it's setup to work well out of the box, it's unix-like (any OS worth its salt is unix-like), it's preinstalled on hardware. It's a simple solution when someone needs a computer for something.

GNU/Linux obviously beats Mac OS, but not everyone configures their own OS and such. Not to say you couldn't install Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, etc. and have a pretty good setup, but it's just not something most people consider. Support is probably another major factor. They can call Apple if something goes wrong. Corporations like to play the blame game. Involving Apple (or Microsoft, I guess) means they have more people to complain to when they have problems.

Thing about macOS is that it just gets out of your way, well said anon, I was struggling to put that feeling into words for a while now. By contrast, Windows just seems to get in your way with annoying popups and recommendations, notifications, and the age-old hassle that is Windows Updates.

It's stable, has no bloatware, ads, and has an interface and command shortcuts that blows the fuck out of Windows
