I would like to upgrade my Asus X552CL laptop with some more memory. Right now I have a 500 GB WD5000LPVX-80V0TT0 HDD. What would be the best choice for me? I would be fine with 2TB (also not to spend too much). Are SSHD a meme or it's a good idea to get one?
Also, do they suffer a lot more from random power outages if compared to HDD like I did read some time ago the SSD do?
I have a double booting machine with Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu 16.04 on it, and I would be interested in using an hybrid disk mainly for gayming and graphic rendering-related work (ArchiCad, Cinema 4d, Artlantis etc.).

Ahahahaha....
My laptop came with one.
I only suspend to ram and might keep a session for weeks or over a month...because linux.
The stupid state hard disk caching algorithm, doesn't catch any valid, in terms of frequency, software. Startup is never faster because it happens once or twice a month. It has more power consumption than an ssd. I don't need more than 256gb coz the porn is on the desktop. In the end you don't even get the benefits of a ssd, you get slightly better hdd performance... Used the sshd in a case as an external usb hard drive...got a samsung 840 pro 256gb.
3 years later, the ssd works flawlessly, the sshd died 1.5 year ago.

They're shit. Either go full SSD or dual storage.

I have a 4tb with qubeos installed on it. Which is basically the worse case scenario. You can really tell the difference. The first few times the system booted up the waits and lag were horrible. After the algorithm got to work the system is running pretty well not as good as an SSD but blows a traditional hardrive out of the water.
