I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Mostly memes. Thinkpads are durable af, you would need to commit a fucking /g/enocide with it to break one. Superior keyboard, replacement parts are everywhere and nobody is gonna steal one.
One could argue that they're old, but intel cpu developement has slowed down so much the only difference is battery life, and since IBM Thinkpads never tried to be thin, it's a non issue.
They are hands down the best budget laptops.
