That never was the router of choice. Any modern ASUS with Merlin firmware, or any other router with custom firmware are better options.

later model wrt1900 series. The c7 archer is fine so long as you get the 2.0 version.

So long as its a dual core and 512mb+ of ram with solid open source wifi drivers, Its /g/ approved.

as the other anon said, any Asus router with merlin firmware loaded on it. shit just works, gets frequent updates, and the cost is pretty reasonable.

I have a ac68u. The firmware is getting more an more locked down. You can't max out power amd select any band anymore.
Also it's broadcom so openwrt never, you're forever stuck with proprietary blobs.
