Memory prices are going up 30% too this month.
>>62287710
I like to look on the bright side of the matter. As long as these faggots are buying up desktop components, the hobby stays alive. The future of the desktop PC was looking pretty grim because of mobile devices.
>>62287710
holy shit glad I made a full upgrade last year
>GPU just up and dies
>needed to buy a new one in this hellish market
I spent way too much money on it
>buy 2500k in 2010
>r9 290 in 2013
>16gb ram whenever
>all in all, probably $1000 total on pc (excluding my various storage drives)
>due to bitcoin, ram prices, and general intel jewery, to get a new pc with comparable performance (i5 6500, rx570, 16gb ram), you have to spend $1200
funny thing is I was beating pretty hard on my cpu and gpu over the last year just so I'd have an excuse to replace them when they broke, but since then, the market has gone to shit and now I'm back to babying them until prices are more reasonable
>>62287710
>tfw got a 1080 for 545 last week
>>62288144
Sameish senpai.
Already have an RX480, was planning on upgrading my 2500K to a 1700, pretty cheap for the ridiculous performance I'll be getting, then I found out you have to get high-clocked RAM for proper performance, saw the RAM prices and holy fuck (was planning on getting 32 GB), nah I think I'll just wait until Ryzen 2 when I have more money.
>>62288349
Ddr4 3000 will work fine
>>62287784
Was it really? I'm having a hard time imagining FPS'es and mobas going away anytime soon. Are they just predicted to be replaced by laptops?
>>62288349
>upgrading my 2500K to a 1700, pretty cheap for the ridiculous performance I'll be getting, then [...] saw the RAM prices
that was pretty much my thought process, except with a 1600
>cpu fine
>mobo fine
>ram literally costs more than the motherboard
really don't understand why 8gb of ram 5 years ago was $50, but you're looking at $160+ for a 16gb kit in 2017
>>62288202
>tfw I got a RX Vega 56 for £380 last week which matches a 1080 when undervolted and overclocked. :)
>>62288446
>vega 56 foor 380
Where and how you lucky shit
>>62288414
Smartphones, they recently started using ddr4, and phones are using more now than ever.
>>62288466
Scan on the launch day. My only gripe is it can get a bit noisy under heavy load (Otherwise it throttles which is not good). My fan speed hovers around 3000 rpm once it reaches target temp but it ramps up considerably more for several minutes. I probably need to tweak further but limiting it to 3000 rpm might cause instability at ramp up (will have to test that some time). Currently clocked at 980-1030mV at 1612Mhz (sits at 1570Mhz after about 10 minutes) and 900Mhz memory (950Mhz is a little too flaky outside of Unigine Heaven and Timespy). Not sure if voltage is working on memory either. Might have to try flashing the 64 BIOS.
>>62288549
Just get that one meme cooler. morpheus
>>62288396
Prebuilt sales tanked but individual PC parts are selling like hotcakes
>>62287784
The fuck are you talking about? Desktop components have been selling pretty well for the last few years. people are not going to stop PC gaming to play games on a tablet.
>>62287710
I still have an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW edition I need to sell
>>62288549
>it matches 1080 for 50 dollaridoos less, I just need to do this and that and that, I might have to do that other thing too, but it matches the 1080
>>62289107

WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE RAM 40% PRICE INCREASE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>62289702
hahaha, bro, why would you get a 1080 with a rig like that?
>>62289794
Because fags on the internet told me it'd be fine. Most stuff runs fine though, some minor drops in shittily optimized games.
>tfw playing elite dangerous in 5120x 2160 DSR at 60fps
>>62289854
well im sure its not as bad as I make it out to be, and you could always upgrade in the future. no hate here
nice monitor though
>>62287710
Buy some monero, cash out some mad shekels and buy a 1080i.
That's what you should do.
>>62289872
Definitely gonna upgrade as soon as I can. And yeah the monitoor is a fucking dream, other than the fact that game cutscenes are all 16:9 and I can't download bluray remuxes anymore for the same reason.
>>62287784
Yfw it will become illegal for the gentiles to own their own PC outside the cloud starting from 2045 onward

>Fucking bitcoin miners REEEEEEE
I'm so glad these cryptoniggers are raping all these retarded gaymer manchildren IN THE ASS WITHOUT LUBE!
Manchildren are the fucking cancer of the West. You're all useless eaters and need to just leave the foodchain and evolutionary pool.
Do us all a favor and KYS!

>get lucky with a sapphire 480 off the boat

>prices on every fucking thing are up 20-50%
Literally china proving a point that it owns the west.
>>62289677
you better have that 3570k OC
>>62290252
Motherboard doesn't allow overclocking. End my fucking life.
>mulitplier can be edited if CPU frequencies are unlocked :^)
>no actual option to unlock it
You fuckers are making my paranoid. I was gonna save for a 1080ti but now am thinking about sinking they money I have on a 1070 before the jews push the prices
>>62290277
oh yeah b75, JUST, luckily I got a z77 with my 3570k all those years ago.
>>62290436
Pre-built life is suffering senpai
Moral of the story: If you buy a GPU that's good at mining it will not lose its value.
R9 390 lost only like 10% of its value in 2 years
>>62290490
I could probably do away with my 7970 and get good money on ebay if I made it seem like it's good at mining. Might catch out some dumb people wanting to jump in on the goldrush
>>62287710
I got sick of the price-gouging bullshit and just bought a 1080 ti. If I'm going to pay for something, I might as well get my money's worth. Plus, a little more longevity in the long run.
Should I buy RAM and a video card now before it all goes up in price?
>>62290086
Especially the jews.

"Now let's talk about those free steaks"
I bought a 1080ti sc2 for $800, i mine ether with it, the moral of the story is you stupid fat fucks should stop being poor and put minimal effort into funding the shit you want instead of making threads bitching about it, I mean really is $600 that much money to you, that's fucking cheap, actually pocket change relayively. quit bitching and go make some fucking money just buy whatever the fuck you think it is that you want. jesus
>>62293371
MSRP is $500 and if you were going to buy Wolfenstein anyway, I honestly don't see why not, especially now. The only shit ends is that Prey goes on sale and Wolfenstein probably will have preorder salesfrom key sites which is probably a loss of $30 - $40.
Fucking chinki ram/vram/nand makers driving prices up
>>62293439
i paid $570usd equiv for a 1080 shipped last week
Prices wont ever go that low in aus again

>>62288414

I hope the government cracks down on this electronic currency and takes every value away from it. It will be great to see the faces of all those idiots who poured in all their life savings unto it.
Price fixing. There's no shortage.
>>62290115
Some of us aren't gamers but actually need high-performance PCs for other shit, sperglord. And miners are fucking us even harder than the regular consumers, because manufacturers already release so few fucking pro cards, and so few repros, too, so we're fucked into paying boutique builders who get direct shipments from manufacturers for whole systems, when we just want to toss in an extra GPU or double up on RAM for a workstation.
>>62287710
>tfw you didn't fall for the JUST WAIT meme and bought a GTX 1080 last year
>>62287710
Sorry for being a pleb, but why does this older card have more shading and texture units? Is it just that the newer one's are more efficient?
>could have bought $450 EVGA 1080 FTW

i have an i7 7700K + 1080 8GB, 32GB ram system and a i5 7400 + 1060 3GB, 16GB ram system and i play on the 1060 90% of the time, because all I need is 70-144fps at 1080p
>>62295537

>>62295518
It's on the regular site too.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126110
I read some reviews. One of them says the cooler isn't that great and will let the card reach 80 c. All you have to do to correct that is set a more aggressive fan profile. And 80 c isn't at the throttle temp anyway.
>>62288749
Got it, thanks.
>>62295518
are you retarded buying that piece of shit blower?
buy 1060 if you can't afford proper card
If minin wreck the gpu market, zen+polaris+freesync would be so hot right now
God I love the tears of /v/fags
Are EVGA cards any good? Was gonna stick with Gigabyte for my next card but I really like the look of the EVGA ones
>>62287710
RAM + no competition
>>62297528
Yes. If you are UK based or have a evga RMA in your country go evga. Better customer support if anything fails. Also I've had 3 out of 4 gigabyte cards fail within 12 months (one was shipped faulty, other reached max temps constantly and they don't cover cooler removal, last one a fan bearing went in 8 months.) Just got a evga 1080ti and we will see how that goes but for now 71 degrees.

>>62289413
It's also because faggot PCMR people won't STFU about how great PC gaming is and that they should build their own rig. Now all video game communities are turning into terribly toxic places on PC.

Dude the only component market that isn't entirely fucked is hdds or psus, but only if you don't care to get a ssd or 1000w psu. It's fucking bananas
>>62301341
Depends on model and price. Both are on the same level in terms of built quallity.
In my case Zotac OC Edition was the cheapest card avaliable.
>>62301470
The CPU market is better off than it has been in a long time. Motherboards are fine too. It's only RAM, GPUs and SSDs that are fucked, due to the greedy slant-eyed kikes artificially inflating prices (again).
>“At the same time, changes have occurred in the relationship among the top three suppliers – Micron, SK Hynix and Samsung,” Wu added. “Based on the oligopolistic market situation, the trio have opted for co-existence as the best way to maximize their own profitability. They therefore are turning away from aggressively competing for market share through price reduction and capacity expansion.”
>“In a sense, there a strategic aspect behind the latest wave of DRAM price increase,” said Wu. “In the short term, rising prices lift up margins for suppliers. In the long run, the barrier to keep Chinese competition out of the DRAM market is reinforced.”

They've been caught and fined for doing it before, but that process takes years and the profits they can make in the meantime will pay off the fine and then some.
