I'm planning on a MBP to take on deployments (sea 8+ months) since I don't want a gayming machine that I have to undervolt just to get decent temps but I was also considering getting an ipad, maybe pro, as well so that I can put ebooks/managa on it as well.

I'm sure a dedicated ereader would be better but with the new ipad screen and specs it's almost to good to pass up.

Does this seem like a waste of money or is it a viable choice?

All I want is a decent, reliable, no-frills Unix machine that is super consistent

I keep losing my storage space, it's getting kind of ridiculous.
At one point I have 1GB left, and then I have next to 0 despite not downloading or taking pictures
One fix I know of is downloading a movie which is over my current capacity which gives me back probably 500MB-1GB, but this is extremely tedious.
I don't really want to buy a new phone since I've had this for 3 years and it still runs perfectly despite this storage space, but I might have to if there's no fix.

I need my Mac for music production stuff, so getting a new macbook won't cut it (unless I drop 4k, and even then, meh)

Thoughts? this thing is getting slower and slower as time goes on.
I was going to remove the optical drive and replace it with a secondary HD, but I do still use it to play CDs or DVDs here and there, and I need it to burn CDs, I know I can just put it in a case, but I'd be worried about need it and not having it with me (because if it's in an external case I think I'd stop carrying it with me everywhere).

I had purchased a 2TB HDD replace my current HDD, but I accidentally ordered from a 3rd party on amazon, and not amazon....suffice to say, I ended up getting fucked, the HDD was shit, and even though they replaced it, the drive they sold me wasn't as advertised, so I dont want to take any risks wit the replacement drive (which is the same make/model)

My Icloud behaves strangely. Instead of synchronizing my documents folder from my macbook it seems like its created a new folder with just some random files from steam and few other applications. How can i change this? I tinkered with it an hour now but it wont merge, i dont get it.
