>live in europe
>attend a self proclaimed university when it's a shitty community college, the program is "Network technique and IT security", two years
>can do one more year but it's a lot of math in two courses, fuck that i suck at math and forcing myself to git gud at something i failed for 15 years is not going to happen
>every course is some Cisco bullshit
>every lecture is literally taken from Cisco's website, wtf is the point of a lecture
>entire thing seems like a scam

What can I even do with CCNA and CCIE if I pass these bullshit exams? The entire thing seems like a scam to me. I don't know what the fuck to do and you have to be good at math to get into good degrees where the actual jobs are. Im just fucked, there's no hope for brainlets.

But seriously, is Cisco a meme company in Europe? Never heard of it and what are the chances to find a job with these two academic certificates?
>>
Forgot to add, some of the things they "teach" you in these certificates is how to build a PC... I mean come the fuck on, this is a meme company right? A ponzi scheme for these fake teachers to fill their own pockets.

>Cisco
https://www.cisco.com/

1:its a legit company but primarily located in burgerland
2:your getting scammed HARD anon
3: if you can learn the "language" of programming you can learn the language of math
>they "teach" you in these certificates is how to build a PC.
your fucking kidding me right?
did they ATLEAST go into basic CPU architecture?
>>
>>62267978
I know it's a legit company in the US but not in Europe. Why am I getting scammed? I think I'm getting scammed because they're teaching very basic shit. One of the lecturers mentioned we will get into cpu architecture later on but it'll probably be something like "A CPU handles complex formulas". Unfortunately I suck at programming, it's not that I can't understand it but because it's boring and I have no interest in it.

WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU TAKING A NETWORKING AND IT SECURITY CLASS THEN?

There's no programming involved.

I'm not an insider but I have been to telco operating rooms. First of all Cisco is big, and years ago it was the main company ISPs went to for equipment. That has changed on the last few years, most metro LAN have lower cost Huawei or Juniper network equipment. However there is still a lot of Cisco gear around and some core networks run exclusively on Cisco.

Second, ignoring the "how-to-buy-Cisco" guidelines, CCNA is not precisely outdated. A lot of chapters are generic knowledge that is useful for any brand, and most other manufacturers look at the Cisco CLI as an example for their management port.

>community college
The fuck is a community college? Is this an American thing?
>>
>>62268080
You didn't take the Computer Programming class. You took IT network/security class. This means dealing with hardware and setting up computer network for businessess, not programming like a code monkey.

I got banned last time I spoke Danish here btw. I hope it's not a meme because I think "IT" is the modern version of cleaning toilets.

>>62270357
Yeah but why do I need programming? Is it because Cisco is getting replaced with automation?
>>
>>62270442
The Danish aside, if you have an interest and affinity with IT, you have really good prospects in Denmark, there is a massive amount of jobs going unfilled now, and this will only increase in the immediate future.

I assume you're pretty young, so basically the most important thing is just to not drop out, get the certificates, and if you feel they spend time on things that are easy or obvious, use that time to work on things that are harder, like maths or programming. Keep up with the things that are going to become important in the near future, like robotics or IoT, and how they relate to what you are learning. Don't focus too much on what the school sets as your goals, if it's too easy, and much of it is basic and behind the times, try to set your own and spend your time, whether in or outside class, working on subjects that are challenging. There are plenty of other resources online, etc. If that helps.

IT is a lot more comfortable than cleaning toilets, and the salary is much much better, if you are concerned about that, but basically, you still only get as much out of it as the effort you put into it.
