We are waiting for your application if You are:
•Comfortable using Debian or ubuntu-like flavors.
•Passionate about automating things to make life simple.
•Experienced with at least one programming language - Python, Bash, Golang, etc.
•Experienced with Linux system internals.
•Experienced with running production systems over the Amazon AWS stack.
•Experienced with configuration management / deployment tools Chef/Puppet/Ansible.
•Experienced with provisioning tools - Terraform.
•Experienced managing scalable web applications.
Great if you are:
•Knowledgeable of Networking foundations: TCP/IP, DNS, Load-balancers, network security.
•Knowledgeable or super-passionate about Kubernetes, Docker, Vagrant and other container-based technologies.
•Experienced with SQL/NoSQL technologies: MySQL, ElasticSearch, etc.
•Experienced with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Zookeeper.
•Experienced with monitoring tools.
Actual requirements for a junior system engineer position in my area. What the actual fuck?
>Programming experience
>I taught myself Perl in high school!
>>62265770
Sounds pretty reasonable to me m8
>>62265725
when will retards (mostly cucked SJW tech socialists) stop referring to scripting languages as programming?
>>62265877
python is by design and definition a fully fledged programming language. your ignorance, stupidity and lack of skill to accomplish anything beyond hello world in bash it does not qualify as valid statement to denounce python.
go back to your /v/ or wherever the fuck you come from. your brain clearly is only able to comprehend basic functionalities of a games like harvest moon and nothing beyond that

>debian - no enterprise support gotta fix everything yourself. if prod is on fire and your skills aren't able to solve an issue you are fucked
>Passionate about automating things to make life simple.
nothing is automated and we are desperate to find someone who can manage an enterprise environment without enterprise support while doing automation on top.
>Experienced with at least one programming language - Python, Bash, Golang, etc.
we are using anything our devs like because we have no clear guidelines nor a QA on software being introduced
>Experienced with running production systems over the Amazon AWS stack.
we like to think that we reduce costs and responsibility while not having either
>Experienced with configuration management / deployment tools Chef/Puppet/Ansible.
actually something that's not uncommon and ok
>Experienced with provisioning tools - Terraform.
while puppet, chef or ansible are widely used we like to use something that nobody uses because someone thought its cool
>Experienced managing scalable web applications.
pretty normal
>Knowledgeable of Networking foundations: TCP/IP, DNS, Load-balancers, network security.
better know everything because as you already know since point 1, you are an all-round whore.
>Knowledgeable or super-passionate about Kubernetes, Docker, Vagrant and other container-based technologies.
we have absolutely no idea about containers but we'd like to virtualize debian on aws to run docker on it which totally doesn't make sense
>Experienced with SQL/NoSQL technologies: MySQL, ElasticSearch, etc.
we are inconsistent on the use of our database infrastructure and mix everything together to have a more complex infrastructure while having no people to support it but you
>Experienced with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Zookeeper.
we also like message brokers of all sorts because again we can't figure out which one to use because we believe that we can not configure one solution to fulfill all our requirements
>>62266075
>>62265770
>Experienced with Linux system internals.
we like to tinker with sysctls and have applications which fuck over memory configurations, tcp configs, etc without actually knowing how much impact they have on prod
>Experienced with monitoring tools.
we'd also like you to take care of our nagios/icinga/zabbix and probably also oncall while not getting enough cash
and of course you get the junior title
its a lot of shit, reads horrible imo, specially for a junior. if you know half of it, try to go for it, see what they do, how big the team is, what their goals for the next year is and what their way of approaching these goals are. worst case, get experience and quit on your own terms

Scripting languages are domain specific BY DEFINITION. Merely toy languages.
I wrote a fizzubzz in labview. Am I real programmer?
>>62266228
Define scripting language.
Interpreted vs compiled won't work here because Java bytecode exists.
>>62266138
Thanks for the reply anon. Apparently it's way worse than I initially thought. I can't believe how high the requirements are, even for junior positions.
>>62266228
i can script in c, i can script in java. what's your fucking point, every programming language can be abused as scripting language. it doesn't make sense to use c because it's painful but i can get the same shit done i do in bash there.
if you take the glue code aspect as your only valid argument, python does have the attribute but it also includes the capability of being object oriented and functional for all round purposes, which a lot of other languages like bash or lua are not, while lua does fulfill the aspect of being object oriented.
>>62266288
just apply. worst thing that can happen is that they say no. if you get invited take it as training, sure it'll burst your bubble but at least you have interview experience. small steps at a time ... most of us been there too
