Discord is NOT your standard teamspeak replacement, it's a data harvest tool.

Retards on /g/ who want people to stop using discord are just like valve forcing gaymen on linux. People will use and continue to use superior products when given the choice. Here's a few things discord did right:

They were both launched at around the same time. One had better marketing towards gamers, and the other one didn't. It wasn't accessible to gamers, the website for it looked like you were getting tor. In contrast, discord led you straight to it's chat servers, and I'm sure most people found out about discord through invite links.
A first glance at the interface and it looks like another messaging app. On desktop, no less. No wonder nobody uses it. At least signal markets in the mobile sector.
Despite what autistics on /g/ think, privacy isn't really that much of a concern for most people, even lower than the expectations of people here. Basically the odd part about discord is how much some people need attention and validation. I'm usually shut up pretty quickly and people try to talk over me all the time as if my opinion isn't worth anything.

They do this for a reason, many people are afraid to stop talking and have the spot light taken off of them so they end up talking as loudly and as aggressively as they can. So many people are worried about others not accepting them that they wont let or accept others into their little group or circle of discord friend. I have noticed this on all fuckign discord servers and it is disgusting

I also am the opposite, and like to bring others in and actually help others but most people just want to talk about their own topics with their own group of people and if you bring up anything they just want to talk over you..

Discord is basically like a social situation with a lot of friends who only like their own groups...

Is there a better server implementation than Synapse? The setup and tools seem annoying to me and the implimentation itself doesn't seem very efficient, lots of resources for a simple chat program. I don't even think the xmpp servers written in Java use that much RAM.
