There are revisions to the dt770 under the "custom" line like the custom one pro, custom studio, custom one pro plus that do have detachable cables. I've owned two sets of 990s over the last 4 years and the build is totally fine for home use. I suggest the 880s and 990s as a good value if you want something with a V and are okay with using EQ. The 770/customs are a good choice but some people seriously hate the treble so buy from amazon incase you want to return. Also if you buy 250ohm make sure you get a micca origen+, dac x6, magni 2, etc something with actual output power because you'll want it.
>>62233536
It's good but I bought them before the m40x/cb1/takstar pro 82 etc were mentioned daily. I suggest you get one of those three and the samson go mic that goes on your monitor.
>>
>>62233513
I didn't know these were readily available used for about $330-350 on ebay and so I'm looking at them again. They're just so fucking awesome.
>>
>>62233575
Detachable cables are much less important than some here people believe. For studio work? Sure. For home use? Who even fucking cares.
If you actually manage to damage your cables when using headphones at home then you are fucking retarded. And even then, you can just solder new one, or even turn non-detachable headphones into detachable ones. You surely can solder, right anon? This is technology board.
The only good thing about detachable cables is that you can easily change cable to better one without having to solder.

Yes. Most balanced AKG headphones (out of k6/k7 series). Soundstage not as good as k7. They require warm source (such as lamp amp or certain combination of opamps) or EQ. Also require amp in general due to very inefficient design. Very universal, pretty much any music will sound good on them. Personally I think those are actually the best budget headphones around, as long as you have good source for them.

>>62235857
I would recommend going to audio shop and trying different headphones out. This thread is overrun by shills and brand fanatics. That aside HD579 is not a bad pick if you are not planning on getting amp.

It is. Measurably so, even. Etymotics literally isolate more than Bose QC35 according to InnerFidelity measurements. You are most likely not inserting them past the second bend of the ear canal as you are supposed to.

You actually need to preamp by at least -10.5 dB, and if it only lets you do it in whole decibels, by -11 dB, since you're boosting a frequency by 10.5 dB. You'll still clip lightly with only -10 dB preamp.
>>

>>
>>62236208
>maybe another day i will move away from these
you still need to preamp by -10db if you want a 10db bass boost, otherwise the signal clips. If it's too quiet that's when you need an amp. Also if you're bass boosting because you're a basshead then there's a lot of better cans you could be using. Likewise if you're a basshead you should ignore all headphone recommendation advice except for the basshead threads at headfi

Depends on what version. I don't recommended the modern made in China ones because they are inferior to the old Cardans. The issue is that they are a lot more fragile and sound really bloated and loose.

>>62236179
No but I wouldn't recommend them unless they are on sale. They aren't worth more than $100. The soundstage is good for a closed headphone but the treble is tizzy. They are very comfortable though.
>>
>>62236170
I don't own a closed pair of headphones so I compare in a store and the environment sound muffing are similar in my opinion
>>62236178
Triple dicks go deep but don't cut sound very well. Except when moisturized, but it then feels like a suction cup. Best isolation is achieved with the foam tips, but it looks like the wear quite easily so i don't want to use these often.

Best closed headphones for soundstage are the akg k553 but the sonic tradeoffs (washed out image and tizzy cymbals/treble) make it not worth it for me imho.

The ath-msr7 have a fairly wide soundstage while being closed back and far more accurate. Consider those.

As far as open back with good isolation I have no idea. Sounds like you're trying to hammer in a screw with that one.

I have both, the sound signature is roughly the same, the HD600 is much easier to EQ without distortion, you can get better bass or mids if you want to, HD600 sounds more open and you can listen at higher volumes. Aside from that at the prices points of the HD600 just made me realize how great the HD598 already is for the price, so if you have the HD598 and want more for 200+ dollars then go ahead.

Hey, dt990 fag here. Those are too expensive for what the 990 offers. See if you can find the pro model for like $130 or so. Check ebay for open box ones, thats how I got mine. FX Audio dac x6 is the cheapest thing I could find that will be able to give them the "suggested" amount of power.
If you buy them, post and I'll give you some of my EQ profiles.
>>62236147
They do have more isolation than anything that isn't custom. Outside of a good ANC, which negatively affects sound, it's as good as it gets. Make sure they're in deep enough.
>>62236229
Why must they use such rigid plastic? The beyerdynamic style headphone is probably dirt cheap to make and is almost indestructible.

Do this the way you are supposed, based on the transfer function.. Look at the sensitivity.
-Can you use a different color for the amplifier bit?
-I am not sure the TH900 should be tagged with the mark. The sensitivity is fairly high. There are many less sensitive headphone listed.
-Put the 400i and 400S into the intermediate.
-HE560 is one of the more difficult loads as far as modern headphones go. Amplifier yes.
On the fence for LCD2. It's somewhere between the mid and low sensitivity.

So to figure out how much power a headphone needs you need to find it's resistance, sensitivity, and then figure out how much power the amp can put into that load, right?(forgive, minimal formal education).
How many mw@45ohm does the he560 need?
It seems like one of the better $500 headphones since that segment is full of dog shit(dt1990, dt1770, hd700)

I bought an expensive pair of headphones and I noticed that on some tracks it seems that sounds which should be centered are coming through stronger on the right side, and when I flip the headphones around the sounds are centered in my head. When I try the same thing with other tracks, the sounds are still just as strong on the right side.

This has sent my OCD tendencies into overdrive, and I've been flipping the headphones around constantly because I can't tell if it's a defect in the drivers or if it's because my right ear hears better or is more sensitive (e.g. when plates clang against each other, I often feel an uncomfortable thud in my right ear while my left ear is fine).

Is there a foolproof and objective test for headphone balance?
>>
>>62239071
I don't want to argue for anything I don't own. It's just that the dt line is very popular, they sell like crazy and not everyone knows what they're buying into. If you already own them it is my opinion that minimal EQ can clean them up a ton. That's all, I wouldn't buy them again I don't think.
About eqing other headphones I'd like to try the msr7 next.

>noise from a frontal loudspeaker
>frontal
The key word here is frontal. The sound of a frontal loudspeaker is not relevant here. See: http://hauptmikrofon.de/theile/1986-3_Standardization-of-studio-headphones_JAES-1986.pdf
>A study of recent work on the properties of spatial hearing shows that the free-field equalization applied to headphones cannot produce good results. A more satisfactory equalization is obtained by reference to the diffuse field...
Headphones do not present spectral properties similar to that of frontal speakers. They present spectral properties similar to that of a diffuse field. Thus, diffuse field equalization is more appropriate for headphones than free field-equalization.
Free-field (frontal) equalization in headphones produces linear distortions referred to in the above study as "tone color defects." Therefore, HD600's accuracy relative to frontal speakers is completely irrelevant in terms of its perceived neutrality.
>b-but the point is the variation
Then don't put >HD600 >neutral on the top of the image.

>>
>>62238937
The "frequency response" charts you might see are the output sensitivity of the headphone to a constant voltage, with the reference voltage used removed.
The frequency response is taking the output of a device and examining properties relative to some frequency, namely the transfer gain/magnitude response (can be called headphone sensitivity in this case) and the phase.

Sensitivity is often expressed in terms of either power or voltage. However, we can't control and hold constant the power that is output. The impedance of most headphones is not even close to constant. Audio amplifiers operate as voltage sources and we have already defined the frequency response in terms of voltage, so it is more natural and more convenient to define the sensitivity by voltage.

An example: let's say you plug in one headphone in an amp and play back a sine wave. You take it out and put a different headphone with the same voltage sensitivity, but a different impedance. The power draw is different, but the new headphone is putting out the same tone just as loud as the one before.

Then look at the impedance. The idea is to make sure the amplifier''s voltage output does not sag at the minimum impedance, such as from a lack of current reserves.

As a formula:
>20 log (amplifier output voltage/reference voltage) dB + (headphone sensitivity) dB

>how much does the HE560 need
How loud do you want it? You have to answer that first, then look at the frequency response to put them together.
It's one thing to say "I want a sine tone to be so and so SPL". You do have to consider that you aren't going to ever play back a real sine wave. You play back music, which is not really made of sine waves.
The range from 1-4kHz is the most critical when determining subjective loudness, whereas the range above 10kHz and below 100 Hz is reduced in importance.
>>
>>62240268
Since no one else answered when I asked earlier. Can you help me? I tried reading through the whole trhead but it just was too much, I have an exam in an hour and a half so i'm just going to ask:

>What are the best under 30-40€ or 50$ in ear earphones.

I saw those VE buds you are talking about but I hate that earphone design since it provides no soundproofing from my experience. I am also going to add that for example I always wore earbuds like apple's (which I used to buy used) backwards, so left bud in right ear etc. They were comfortable that way and for listening to Trance/Hardhouse I enjoyed them.

This said I fucking hate their shitty manufacturing, i've resoldered the pieces of shit 2-3 times on 3 different pairs i've owned and when recently it broke I just went everywhere with my earphones. So how can I get nice sound and good isolation?

Alright, here's the deal: it's almost the end of 2017 and I've been using strictly only wireless Bluetooth headphones for the couple last years, simply out of principle and to gather all the needed first-hand experience on this entire "wired VS wireless" debacle. So, after using strictly only wireless headphones on a daily basis for almost two-and-a-half years, I can definitely without any doubt openly state that the "always pro-wired only" and "only highly expensive portable players, no pleb-tier smartphones" pseudo-audiophilic FAGGOTS are completely and absolutely FULL OF SHIT. I won't argue with anyone here that wireless headphones in general and wireless sound technologies in overall were utter garbage just 5-or-so years ago, but nowadays it's NOWHERE even remotely close to being as bad as it was in 2012 and further down the line. Everything (literally EVERY THING) the so-called self-proclaimed pseudo-audiophilic kiddie shithead trolls are openly and absolutely brainlessly proclaiming loudly everywhere about MODERN wireless sound technologies being "bad" or "not on par with wired" is COMPLETE, 100% BULLSHIT. Abso-effing-lute LIE. These retarded deaf kiddies clearly never used any modern wireless headphone piece that cost more than 50$ (and actually good/worthwhile wireless headphones start from the 140$ mark AT THE VERY LEAST) and/or they never tried Apt-X LL or ESPECIALLY the GODLIKE LDAC. The fags basically don't know jack about any of this, but they act like they're the hottest and most knowledgeable shits around the block while in reality they not hot shits, but just shit. Modern wireless sound IS actually very good and does NOT lose to wired at all by the sheer quality of sound and latency (if it's apt-X LL or LDAC), WHILE being WAAAY more convenient and comfortable to use due to headphones being completely (WELL, DUH!) wireless. Fuck all those pseudo-audiophilic pseudo-elitistic sudo-entitled "pro-wired" shitheads, I say. They know fucking NOTHING.

>What ~50$ range wireless headphones would /g/ recommend?
Unfortunately, there are almost no actually decent/good models in that price range. The closest one you can get to be of a "decent sound quality" is Rombica's "MySound BH-10 2C", but they have extremely crappy Bluetooth range and they usually tend to bug out and turn off even if slightest electromagnetic interference is nearby (like, for example, when you're in a convenience store and standing near a commercial fridge). Also note that the are literally "Chinshit Wireless" headphones. If you never ever had a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones before and you wish to get ACTUALLY worthwhile device from the first attempt - you'd have to spend AT LEAST 120$ and these will be MEElectronics' "Air-Fi Matrix 3" model. This is the EXACT very point where actual wireless QUALITY starts.

>Have they also opened it up for non-Sony headphones or do I need a Sony wireless?
That we don't know yet, as there are simply no massive amount of Android 8-based smartphones on the market so far, but I personally highly doubt that this will be Sony-only when it becomes mainstream, simply due to default LDAC implementation in all Android 8 devices making no logical sense in the case if Sony decides to not license this to other wireless headphone manufacturers. They've already licensed this to Android 8, so why the hell will they restrict it only to their wireless headphones now? That will be an asshole move and will undoubtedly garner a lot of critique on Sony's ass. I don't think that Sony's THAT stupid as to not provide other wireless headphone manufacturers with a LDAC license. And even if (and that's a very big IF) they actually in all seriousness restrict LDAC usage only to their wireless devices, this still at least leaves us an option to not use a Sony smartphone for it if we wouldn't want to, so there's at least that.

>Name one worthwhile wireless headphone that isn't shit-tier or overpriced for what it sounds
Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 SE (monitor, closed, neutral, medium price)
MEElectronics AirFi Matrix 3 (monitor, half-open, bright, very start of the actual quality in wireless headphones so this is as low as you should go if you're planning on using LDAC or at the very least Apt-X LL)
Marshall Monitor Bluetooth (monitor, closed, V-shape, medium price)
Master & Dynamic MW60 (monitor, closed, V-shape, high price segment yet not ineptly overpriced)
Bang & Olufsen H9 (monitor, closed, neutral, medium price)
Sony MDR-1000X (monitor, closed, warm-to-neutral, mid-to-high price)
Onkyo W800BT (IEM, closed, neutral, medium price)
JVC HA-S90BN (monitor, closed, V-shape, medium price segment)

All of these currently available headphones are absolutely worthwhile wireless solutions. The most expensive one in that list is Master & Dynamic MW60 and even it is not really overpriced (usually sells for 600$, but can be found for a cheap as ~420$ at some places during sale-off days).

P.S.
Answering the question that was made in the previous thread: "open" structure is not actually common in the wireless segment, at least when it comes down to monitor headphones, but if anything - you could always try MEElectronics' AirFi Matrix 3, they're partially open. Also please don't ever lump "closed" design and "bad" together all the time, because this is simply not true. All of the closed monitor headphones mentioned above are absolutely top-notch pieces of hardware and sound very good for their respective pricing segments (Master & Dynamic MW60 having the best materials and sounding phenomenally even in artificially created bad conditions, but it's sound curve, which is very clearly V-shaped, is definitely not necessarily for everyone. I personally prefer absolutely neutral sound, so my personal wireless headphones of choice for everyday usage are Plantronics BackBeat PRO 2 SE and Onkyo W800BT).

>Basically for some songs I'm barely hearing the guitar solos.
It could _also_ be there were *huge* problems with your motherboard, and the fulla2 sounds completely different (but correct), and you just need some time to adjust to it.
Do you have a cellphone to compare against? The non-shittier ones tend to bundle a headphone amp. At a reasonable (say 2/3rd) volume there should be power issues with the HD600 and one of these phones. It should sound closer to Fulla 2 than your motherboard.

If I connect them on the back with the 1/8" the sound is correct and I can hear the guitars again... but that shouldn't be how I should use this right?

I've listened to said songs on multiple devices, I know how these should sound and barely being able to hear said guitar solos isn't normal.

Ok I found out the problem, if I slightly put the 1/8" inside the 1/4" I can hear the sound being normal, but if I push it all the way the muffling problem occurs. Looks like the problem comes from my HD600 cables/thingies?

Are you using the original HD600 cable, or a third party one?
If you're using third party, you know what to do.
The original 1/8 -> 1/4 adapter CLICKS into place when completely connected.
>>
>>62246878
>but that shouldn't be how I should use this right?
The connections on the back are line level, preamp and dac outputs. Affected by volume knob and line-in jack and only ON when no headphones attached the former, and always on, unaffected by knob, always outputting DAC the latter.
Headphones go to the front huge jack, and nowhere else.

I always complete everything, from OVAs to the little 30sec specials for anything I watch.

The reason I use MAL is because, aside from having used it for a very long time now, there are tools like http://graph.anime.plus which tells you about all the related specials etc for anything you watched, which is useful if you're a completionist like me. Truth be told though I've never used anidb so I cannot compare. MAL looks fine if you use the classic look though, it's also the biggest database out there so useful since I tend to read a lot of raw stuff.

I hope you enjoy WUG. It's quite different to Love Live I would say.

It doesn't do manga or LNs, only anime. It is however _really_ good at it. Been using it since early 2000s.
For manga I use mangaupdates (bakaupdates) which I have to admit isn't too great, but does the job.
For VNs, vndb dot org.
I don't like MAL because it lacks information about fansub releases (as shown on my screenshots) and it exists absolutely for profit.

>and Hinoe in particular is an imbecilic bigot with extremely bad behavioral education and severe anger management issues.
No clue who that even is. Probably some personal silly thing of yours w/him that has no relevance to the site.

Except when you try to find Dragon Ball GT made-for-TV movie and IT'S NOT IN THE GENERAL DATABASE ALONGSIDE WITH OTHER DRAGON BALL MOVIES because AniDBs MORONS tagged it as an "episode" and when you point out to them that this is a mistake and should be fixed, all they do is aggressively flip "F-Us" on you out of nowhere and foul-mouth out of nowhere all the time. AniDB is LITERAL trash and if you like it - YOU are a down syndrome-affected cretin.
