That said, can anyone give me a rundown on what to expect or prepare for? And yeah I heard pic related is good, anyone can provide a link to download it for free? And yeah, I have no programming experience.

Tough and outdated shit, yet pretty powerful
>>62232133
That's what my absolute trash single-"comp sic" teacher community college is using. It's okay I guess?
I have trouble believing anything my teacher uses/recommends is "good".
>C++
But why? Assembly is faster which is great for games.
>>62232804
Outdated? I read that it's still popular. And powerful how?
>>62232829
Maybe it is? Who knows? I'm still testing the waters anyway.
>>62232905
I'll look into it. Can you give any advice or point me in the right direction?

He's fucking with you, assembly is tedious as fuck and you should never use it for actual, lengthy programs unless you're working on extremely high performance shit or are paid to do it.
C++ also isn't outdated, don't listen to that other guy.
C++ is powerful because it has many features (which is why /g/ calls it bloated). It's a complex and extremely versatile language.
You might have a bit of trouble if it's your first programming language, but if you use a good book (I would recommend C++ Primer, 5th edition) you can do it. Good luck anon.

Thanks, anon. Boy, this is getting complicated and I haven't even started yet. Hopefully I'll get something solid done in a week or so.

What do you find complicated?
>I'll get something solid done in a week or so
Depends on your definition of solid. You won't be making a game anytime soon.

A linear text-based rpg maybe if it's doable or at least knowing the terms in C++ by heart. By the way, I downloaded the Primer, it's pretty thick. Whatever the case maybe, I'm off to an adventure!
