Yeah, use Godot. Unless you want to reimplement drawing and getting input and shit, you want to use an engine or framework, and python doesn't really have any. Godot's language is essentially python, but that's not most of what you'll be doing. If you do want to be mostly writing code instead of using an editor, find a lua framework like Love2D, or just make your own engine.
