Why is Western Digital the best hard drive manufacturer?
They use diamond the hardest metal known to man which makes their drives harder than others

i thought hgst was /g/-chan's choice of hdd
>>62216505
It is. WD is only 2nd.
>>62216505
They're owned by WD, Hitachi sold them the HDD division some years ago.
Essentially WD wins by default because its only them and Seagate and Seagate sucks.

Have disposable income.
>>62218431
The reason you should be buying a mac is because you have disposable income. So I think you have it backwards. People without disposable income shouldn't really be looking at macs
>>62218302
Have more control over the OS
Have fun with locked down baabysFirstOS X

>>62218504
like what
>>62218302
For an average consumer nothing.
For a developer, you can develop on the same platform you'll be using in production and that is priceless. Less fussing about with VM's and when you do need a VM, KVM is better than whatever trash Apple and Microsoft are using. Likewise if you're developing for a Windows server (WHYYY!?) you should be using Windows.

If money's not an issue, are industrial grade SSDs the best choice for larger capacities?
>>62218570
Do you need the performance? Consumer grade SSD's are expensive enough let alone enterprise grade stuff. If you don't need the fast read and write speeds they'll provide then just stick with a HDD or RAID array.

u misspelled toshiba onii-chan
I produce music and write scores for TV and games, however I prefer to do it from my latop so I can bring it to the studio for proper mixing. Sound libraries can get massive, Komplete 11 is 500 gb uncompressed, Spectrasonics is about 140 total, and that's not even taking account my own samples. Superior Drummer is going to rape my external drive when it comes out, I figure it might be smart to start migrating.
