Really, after all this time, AMD kind of deserve a win, they really delivered with Ryzen.

Now if only they can get the GPU division in line.

Ryzen is shit for games, and shit for vms (both windows, and linux). AMD's marketing has always been god tier though, so people gleefully ignore the deficiencies while pretending that they have a future proof cpu.

To answer myself, seems it is data from MindFactory: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/6xg3oe/wow_what_a_month_amd_finally_overtook_intel_cpu/

Although got to take into account that Intel probably sells more old skylake/haswell platforms than AMD does FM2+/AM3+ ones.

They actually beat Intel sales even in total revenue, which is a feat when Intel's most popular CPU i 7700K and AMD's is just R5 1600.

I also like that in the weak Q2 months, Intel wend down much more than Ryzens.

The funny thing is, that the gaming performance of Kaby Lake wasn't really being brought up that much after its launch in january, when people were generally >meh about it.

Only after it turned out that higher FPS in actually CPU-limited gaming is the bright point in its otherwise inferior value proposition (when comparing 4c8t to 6c12t and particularly 8c16t Ryzens), only then did i7-7700K start to be stressed as "the ultimate gaming CPU". Reviews from january hardly called it that, it was just considered minor Skylake speedbump.

Before Ryzen launched, there generally was a "CPU doesn't matter that much, invest in GPU" thinking in gaming PCs circles.
But then there was need to find something where Core i7s beat Ryzens, so suddenly the FPS in games in low resolution tests got uber-important, despite the fact that in practice you are almost always GPU-limited when actually gaming.

https://www.mindfactory.de/Hardware/Prozessoren+(CPU)/INTEL+Desktop/Sockel+1151.html

Besides 7100, it seems i3 sales are negligible, thanks to the Pentium (which is outside of the range that Ryzens cover).

Vega is actually much better than Nvidia at compute, things like rendering and data processing, it has a very high floating point power and the HBM2 makes it perfect for machine learning.

It's pretty clear it was built with server compute and professional workloads in mind.

Even the Vega 56 performs like 30% better than the 1080Ti in Blender tests.

>Compatible with all the softewate that I couldn't use before, and not bad with the games at all. Linux, and bsd installs without issues, and etc.
So you don't even use Linux nor BSD, since you can't run any recent Nvidia card without the proprietary blobs (even if you use Nouveau you still need the signed proprietary firmware). which means the vast majority of Linux distros and BSD's won't install without manual tinkering

Thing you need to uderstand, goy, is that the LPP used by the Ryzen fabbers is what keeps it from getting past 4GHz reliably, but since they used LPP, the power efficiency is great until you start clocking it to levels it was never designed to run at.

That's shown on every overclock past 4GHz, those diminishing returns are quite clear, but there is more than enough performance to go around below the 4.1GHz mark, and Zen+/Zen2 will use a difference process.

But you can stay mad as hell, goy, because AMD just pulled a hat-trick and Intel just realised they had not planned for this.

Alright less trolling more serious for a second,
Ryzen pretty muck sucks on 14LPP, it's certainly better than their previous garbage and is clock-for-clock competitive with Intel especially at the prices they're sold for.
But Intel has a 1-1.2ghz clock advantage (5.0ghz is possible on essentially all 7700k - delidded of course (which is fucking retarded, Intel should be massacred for that solder garbage but everyone eats up the micro-cracks bullshit) at reasonable voltages) right now.

AM4 is a winner though because even if Ryzen on 14LPP is a bit sucky compared to the competition all things except price considered, GloFlo/Samshit are targeting 5ghz for 7nm, and AMD intends to keep using the platforms until 2020.

It's why I have a 1700 in the next room.

Hire them from Apple then.
Apple treats employees like garbage.

Papermaster could help that along too...

>So pure placebo oil filters? You know it is a straight up copy of NNEDI3 with neurons jacked into infinity and that the OpenCL version of NNEDI3 it's way faster on AMD than Nvidia, right?
Sure it is kid. So the opencl placebo.is faster on linux? This damage control is ironic, and filled with bullshit in the same post.
>Why the fuck would you need a GPU to remux shit? It's literally just copying stuff
You can copy stuff faster now grandpa. You can do this with amd app, but that's slow, and almost useless.
>Use this shit
Nah I'd rather remux a bluray in a minute, or two.

Oh, there is driver issues too, and yeah they need to hire a better or bigger software team. But the hardware is definitely designed to be paired with Epyc, look up the Instinct cards.

Which AGESA update fixes the NPT bug?
It's 1.0.0.6, because it's still there...

Yeah I don't get why the fuck anyone would even go Intel these days. Another new motherboard for Coffee Lake when Kaby Lake isn't even a year old?

Jesus Christ, how do people let themselves be fucked in the ass so hard?

first ryzens(pre 17xx production number) was hitting 280-300w at ease on 4.1ghz
the ones after may (production number 17xx) are getting 4.1ghz on 1.376 on all the range(from 7 to 3) they are the same step as threadripper (b1) their power dont go above 200 till you push it via phase cooling or ln2

Well, don't celebrate too much. It is nice to do good in retail/DIY, but that market is small.
Unless they sell big into OEM channel, their overall market share and revenue (income) will hardly increase from just retail market, I'm afraid.

Not him, but:
Ryzen has PCIE 3.0 x16 (x8/x8) for GPU and x4 for M.2 SSD.
LGA 1151 only has x16, SSD connects to chipset.

So, Ryzen has more, retard? You probably count those "MUH 24 LINES" from chipset, but dude, those are all multiplexed over single x4 link that is shared with SSD, network, HDD, USB bandwidth so they get really low throughput in reality. Also those 24 lines double as PHYs for USB and SATA ports, so in reality there is probably just 6-8 left on a motherboard, just like on AMD chipset (where it is just PCIe 2.0 but it hardly matters, because they gut the same PCIe 3.0 x4 uplink as on Intel, but not consumed by SSD which connects to CPU, so in the end, you probably get better performance).

Have a nice weekend, my boy.

Based on the EPYC launch, I think OEMs will be happy to use Ryzen in their lineup.

They are conservative, Intel gives them huge discounts and support plus brand, inertia, business orders mentality, etc. It won't be easy for AMD to capture marketshare there, sadly.

They have some traction, but currently they mostly just maintain the business they managed to catch with previous APUs, nothing really massive. Hopefully they will get more lucky with Raven Ridge.

Some wins in this recent PR, but it's just modest bits IMHO: http://www.amd.com/en-us/press-releases/Pages/ryzen-pro-desktop-2017aug31.aspx

If only amd gpus were so good.
>>
>>62203170

Not really

Intel is hardly finished. They just got complacent and relied too much on their fab tech to overcome the difficulties in making massive monolith chips.

Intel is already moving away from that paradigm. It just take years to product come from drawing board into production.

Intel has mainstream and portable markets firmly in their grasp unless Ryzen Mobile utterly crushes Kaby Lake and Cannonlake at power efficiency and cost while yielding enough performance to satiate the normies. OEM only care about bottom line costs and if you deliver enough product.

>AMD

>>
>>62215657

This isn't the early 1990s-2000s anymore.

AMD already has proven themselves to be robust enterprise platform with the Opteron family back in the day. They don't have the stigma of K5-K6 days to overcome.

PHB only care about bottom-line costs. If Epyc systems are cheaper are just as fast if not faster then Intel solutions. They will jump ship in a heartbeat.

That is what Intel is really worried about. They can't make enough massive chips since the yield are so shitty in order to meet demand. Intel's shareholders are preventing Intel from cutting into their massive profit margins they had enjoy since Sandy-Bridge-E era.

What I was talking about:
http://store.hp.com/us/en/mlp/desktops/elitedesk--prodesk---workstations?jumpid=cp_r11400_us/en/ips/business_desktops/elite/viewall

For example HP even sells AMD-based business PCs, yay! But it is just one line (Elite 705) out of many, just look at that page. And it is not at the frontpage, you need to click "view all desktops".
So it likely only gets bought by fraction of customers compared to all the Intel-based models.

Not him but you are being made to look a right cunt.

My 1700x gets up to 3.8Ghz stable on a 1.32v, I never took it further than that for longevity reasons and not knowing at the time what the max v core would be.
Hwmonitor states 120w under max stress on aida, so take what you will from it, but 250w is total shit asspull
