Apple will never put a 4K display on their laptops. They understand what the PPI they want per device is, and they see no reason to move past that PPI. Any updates to their displays going forward will be brightness, color gamut, and perhaps refresh rate.

T. Works for Apple, but not hardware so I don't know for certain.
