For those of you that don't understand the minimum wage that's literally double what the full time minimum wage employee makes. This is also one of the best paying entry level IT jobs in the area. Maybe I'm just in a real shit location in California but I have a hard time believing all these people claiming to make 70k plus as programmers. I've been around a lot of places in the US and a lot of the salaries in this thread seem pretty exaggerated.

>>62196964
Yeah, to be honest I feel like my salary is a bit lower than average here, but it's still a bit higher than it was in Moscow and this is a startup so I figured I'll either get a raise next year or try to get in Reaktor or something (if that is even possible for someone shitty-to-average like me). And yep, living effectively in the center of Helsinki, but at least I don't spend anything on commute this way. Doesn't seem like it would've been much better expenses-wise if I was in Espoo. Besides the cost, though, really nice city to live in.

36k... That would be pretty neat.
>>
>>62196964
Also, is that 36-60 before or after taxes? Before taxes, I get ~38k, taxes eat up ~11k.

Summers are fine with a/c, although my power bill went up 3 fold since June. Okinawa is pure cancer in the summer so don't go there, somehow managed to be worse than Taiwan despite being higher north.

But I see, thanks, that means I would clearly need to put in significant effort if I were to try moving there.

I've been hearing horrors about power bills, A/C in the summer, heaters in the winter, sounds terrifying for someone coming from places with central heating, summers that aren't scorching hot and pretty affordable power in the first place.

Do the official sample tests starting at N5 and see where you stop feeling comfortable.

I save money in the winter using only very localized heating, namely kotatsu.
Like in all of Asia, Japs have not heard of insulation so utilities get expensive. Stupid considering they're low on energy.
