I got a tp link range extender (pic related)

it was working fine for a couple months had the ssid same as my main router. Now that I changed the ssid on both router and extender to new names (same on both) I keep getting a message saying no internet connection artery I've set everything up.

I've changed the name on both, but no matter if I factory reset it or not it keeps giving me the message saying no internet.

It's there something I need to change? or that I'm doing wrong now?

I work from home, in Australia, for a company in the United States. Recently, Pandora was cancelled here and I thought it wouldn't be a big deal because I'm using Cisco anyConnect to VPN into my company's network. However, Pandora still registers me as working from Australia and prevents me from listening to music. I thought VPNs changed your location? Is there a way around this?

I did, have lag/stutter issue when I was still using firefox as my default browser. I think it's caused by memory leak or something. In the end I changed to chrome (yes, I know, botnet etc etc), but atleast I don't have lag/stutter issue anymore.

>I thought VPNs changed your location?
Common misconception, though it IS possible to do that too. VPNs connect you to a network from a remote place, that's why they're called "virtual" in the first place. There is no requirement whatsoever that states that your general internet traffic has to be routed through the remote network.

If the company just needs to allow you access to their internal network, it makes perfect sense that they wouldn't configure it to route all your internet traffic through their network. Why would they do that, why would they want you to push all your irrelevant shit through their network?
>>
>>62189494

>>
>>62189492

>>
>>62189105
It's not a privacy centric VPN, it's your network connecting to their network to share LAN resources. You probably don't have all your traffic being diverted through it.

The few macs in my office are having an issue with folder permissions over SMB2. Specifically we have a home drive share with folders for each of the users. If a Mac user tries to access their own folder they receive a permission denied error even though they have full access in their AD account. We are using Centrify for AD authentication. This issue does not happen on SMB1 via a CIFS:// connection.

not long ago i got a free laptop from a customer. the hdd was dying and she didn't want to buy a new one so i asked her if i can keep it up so i can tamper with it for fun and she agreed. of course the first things i did was to place my own hdd and everything worked
that was ~3 weeks ago. today the bitch came and asked if i can give it back because she forgot about some extra warranty she bought. of course i got a little annoyed because i just configured the system etc but anyway i told her that she's a bit too late because i disassembled it (including hdd) and broke pretty much any void seal but she wanted to try anyway
so here's the thing: what should i do with it to make sure that no warranty will ever cover it

Go is the least common denominator.
If you know ANY C-style langauge, you can learn Go in one day.

It's basically like serving rice and water for dinner:
Not the greatest dishes ever, not very exiting either. But if you have to cook for 100 people, everybody can live with rice and water.

I'm getting a low buzzing sound from my headphones when plugged into my computer. Scrolling up and down a webpage or moving the mouse increases the volume of the buzzing. I heard that plugging the computer directly into the wall instead of a power strip or surge protector will fix it, and while that is the case the electricity supply in my area is prone to blackouts and tripping the breakers, so I'd prefer to keep using the surge protector. i got a job at a steel plant last week, just doing basic IT and SQL

(for reference im a junior CS student, just doing it for money)

while on break the manager asked me if i knew anything about websites, i said yes, and then asked me to update the old images on their website. i said sure thats pretty easy if its just replacing the images with new ones.

but he doesnt seem to know how to even access the site. it was built by a local web design place that went out of business 3 years ago. i dont know enough about hosting and all that to even know what to tell him, since the only web stuff ive done is locally hosted on my computer.

whats the deal here? how can he access his site so i can edit it for him?

I asked this in a thread a few weeks ago but still haven't been able to resolve my issue. I'm on Windows 10 and my Wifi keeps cutting out. If I run the troubleshooter it will reset the wifi adapter and report back that the default gateway was lost. I've tried everything I can think of plus whatever Google had to offer. I assigned myself a static IP, I updated drivers, I changed settings on my router. The issue isn't hardware related, it doesn't have this problem when I run Linux. I even re-installed Windows to no avail. Although it was the "reset this PC" option. I probably should make a new disc and do a clean reinstall. Anyone who has seen this and been able to fix it, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I almost can't believe that this is happening. But, then again, this IS /g/.

Your original format was perfectly fine. Your second format is also fine, it just looks really strange in my opinion. However you organize it, you do you.

I'm going to use your second format (the one with the layered totals) to walk you through this.

Maybe this was a typo, or maybe it was retardedly intentional, but you tried to subtract an entire column of values through the cells B5 to B19. Have you looked at any of those in-between cells? Most are either blank or contain text. You can't subtract text.

Replace with:
>=SUM(B3 - B5:B9)
B9, not B19. Solved.

You can just make a subtotal box for each section, I think that would be the easiest. Just put a box under each section and have it be the sum of all numbers in that section. When you need to use all values from a particular section later in an equation, you can just pull the singular subtotal value instead of manually pulling the entire column.

You're limited by the abilities of your router. Most routers have shit QOS and traffic monitoring. Who knows what kind of side shit he might be running? Unless he's fully saturating your bandwidth, that ping sounds like a bufferbloat problem. If that's the case then you'd want to get your hands on an OpenWRT or LEDE router and set up SQM. Or you could try paying for a faster internet connection, but that's a roundabout solution if your problem is prioritizing traffic.

Like I said, you're pretty limited on a normal router. In a few years proper "cake" type QOS will be everywhere, but for now that's barely showing up anywhere outside of custom firmware. Normal QOS is ballsnasty hard to set up, and not very effective, especially if you don't know what he's doing to cause problems. But if you do figure out how to monitor his shit, you might be able to confront him if he's doing something weird.
>>

qos should always be disabled on routers. only high end server hardware is powerful enough to run qos without slowing down everything.

>>
>>62197778
The divide is whether it has the resources to run a non-gimped custom firmware from the last couple of years. If docsis 3.1 ever takes off, that has a version of the standard integrated. Of course it's more of a "one size fits all" kind of thing than traditional QOS, but it'll have a big impact on how satisfied people are with their internet connections.

If it's really bugging you, you could buy your own router and pass everything through it. It'll be obvious though, so if you're not supposed to be fucking with shit that's not an option. The best solution is just to try and have him limit his own shit the way you do. It's much easier/more effective to set limits on the programs/devices themselves than to try shit at the router's end. Throttling specific traffic across a network is one of those things that sounds like it should be really easy for a device to do but it's really not.

Ye. Unlimited Steam, Soulseek and Qbit can destroy the traffic.

Another thing I noticed is that it is unstable. Like I open Qbittorrent, the line drops to zero, devices get disconnected and then after a minute or two it picks up speed and things work/get connected for a while, then later it drops again.
Qbit goes from 12kb/s to 1Mb/s and 1 to 12 all the time.
Seems that the connection get very unstable with anything extra you throw at it.

If that behaviour makes any difference.

I need some help with a VPN since I'm retarded according to what I went through so far. I only need a VPN for torrenting since my ISP is strict about it. I set up qbittorrent with privateinternetaccess following the instructions of using the SOCKS5 authentication. I used the magnet torrent tool on checkmytorrentip and got a different IP address than my current IP address. I figured it worked. I downloaded some shows and movies, but when I checked my email, I received copyright infringements for each movie or show I downloaded. I triple-checked everything I did across multiple guides and I'm not sure what I did wrong. Is it because of the VPN I chose? Did I need to set up the VPN with my entire connection setting instead of just qbittorrent? I'm not sure what I should do since I can't switch ISPs.

>>
>>62198840
Oh, I mean unless there's some kind of problem about it or something a prospective buyer needs to know about I don't think you need to go into a whole lot of detail there. Mostly just be sure to mention any minor defects or oddities about it if you want to reduce the chances of someone trying to return the thing for an asinine reason down the line.

>>
>>62198842
You did not set up a VPN. You set up a proxy. Proxies are not encrypted. You will want to actually run a VPN. Unfortunately it is prohibitively hard to make just your torrent traffic run through the VPN, so you'll need to either turn it off when you're doing regular shit, or else run your torrent client from a dedicated PC or VM.

So my computer (win 8.1) slowed down a ton in the last week or so
there was no particular program I downloaded and then it just started slowing down.
It moves like a snail and any program I try to open it just stops responding (it usually will start responding again given enough time though)
I had no idea what was wrong but then I realized that in task manager in the performance tab it shows disk active time always at 100%
In the processes tab it shows disk at 50% as opposed to 100 under performance
I googled around and saw that there were some people with similar problems, but none of the solutions posted work. I pretty much just disabled superfetch and windows search and I have a virus scan running now.
Once that finishes I'm gonna try running in safe mode and seeing if that changes anything, but I'm really not sure
Just want to see if there's anyone with any ideas of what I could do
>>
>>62198905
There are some stress testing tools out there that you can run for a while and see if anything crashes or if it makes weird noises (often get GPU with bad fan bearings after a while that do this) I guess. Some thermal benchmarks might also interest a prospective buyer.
>>
>>62198907

No one is going to be able to help with with broad terms. "Everything", you like this word, what is "everything". Did you open LITERALLY every program on your machine and check if the font has changed? I dont think you have, so "everything" is not everything.

If you change the font and it does not change, then you didnt change it properly.

Use Firefox ESR, which should continue to work with the current version of Greasemonkey until a new one is ready.
If you're using a freedom-respecting build/fork of Firefox, you can try this build of Greasemonkey based on this pull request which may fix the issues some people are having.
Install Violentmonkey or Tampermonkey. These are already WebExtensions, but due to the current limitations of WebExtensions, they offer less functionality than Greasemonkey.
Use Greasemonkey with the current version of Firefox, but don't be surprised when things break.

This also has to with law but its also tech related so here we go. I'm going to start an open source project which I want to protect its name by copyright. Think of it like MPL, it grants the usage of the source code but it prohibits putting Firefox name on top of Firefox forks. I want to achieve something similar, however:

1) I don't reside in America or Europe
2) I don't have any money to spare on the project, apart from server costs
3) I am not really knowledgeable about this topic

So my question would be:

Can I claim copyright on my projects name, in United States and other countries which protects international copyright claims, even if I don't reside in these countries or register my real name for the copyright claim?

I'm want to download a MySQL dump of the Github public event time line. The dump is 60Gb big and I can't download it, because it is always failed to continue downloading. I've tried JDownloader, DownThemAll and the bare Firefox. It seems a server does not support download resuming. Pls help to download that fucking DB dump.

Look, I'm going to be honest. I'm a retard when it comes to scripting languages. I've used some python in the past but that's been 10 years ago. I've downloaded the prereq's and they're currently in a folder. I downloaded the most recent versions of everything. Where do I run the command line from? I tried running it from the bash/readline folder and the says that "is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

What am I doing wrong?

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
