HDMI is only slightly less gayer than that. Might be a cable manufacturer problem, cheap ones do tend to do that more.

Hopefully wifi will make lag free 4K wireless displays possible some day. 802.11ac already does almost 1gbps with a single 160Mhz channel but just raw 1080p video requires 3Gbps bitrate. And that's not even taking the overhead into account.
