Upgrade to epyc, goy.
>>
>>62182680
Raid 5/6 isn't particularly useful for your boot volume, just get a NAS for redundant storage.
Also, 10 NVMe devices is 40 out of your 64 PCI-E lanes, which leaves you with enough for a GPU and the chipset, so it's not like they could physically go higher.
>>
>>62183214
There actually are 8x NVME drives out there though.
But those will be ran on servers with loads of PLX switches or EPYC

Hmmm, where do 2 of x299 NVME route through? Oh yeah, through the chipset : x4 pcie lanes shared by sata, wireles, lan, usb..
> mfw no dedicated x4 pcie lanes for all nvme straight to CPU
> mfw lanlet Nvme
>>
Also looks like AMD released 1900x for those who wanted to get into x399 but didn't have enough money for 1920x 1950x

If only RTG follows AMD's CPU division in delivering feature sets above their competition that they gouge for by not gimping RX Vega.. We'll see in September/October what choice they make. Their future depends on it.

Oh yeah, I also forgot.
Intel is dead etc. Something about fans having a watch.

*Epyc teleports behind your server* Nothing personal, Schlomo
...So yes, we can, AMD's gonna have so much money they could brute force themselves back into GPUs.

To do that they need to fire rtg Beijing and move it back to the US so Raja can hire all the pajeets he needs

Ngg actually has two big features that haven't been implemented yet. The first being the 4x geometry throughput our resident br and slav Team Red shills always talk about, and the other is the improved work distributor, which packs wavefronts to try and maximize shader feeding. This feature should bring Vega closer to parity with Pascal's resource efficiency and on a surface level could be a big deal if there're no other bottlenecks.
>>
>>62188745
They have until Sept/Oct to be clear as to what they're delivering. When their Pro line drops in September, we'll see what Vega is capable of. We'll then later discover what they've gimped headed towards RX Vega

People said the same thing about Fury X and it's still behind the 980Ti/1070 in the vast majority of games.
>>
>hardware raid
who cares?
I thought hardware raid was kill anyhow because it's usually a nonfree shitshow.

also erasure coding.
>>
>>62188745
Technically, primitive shaders are just one pre-defined application of the NGG fast path. Of course that pre-defined application happens to be designed around sidestepping the historical front end bottleneck of GCN based architectures, but still.

Ultimately, the bigger picture is that the NGG fast path mostly consists of generalized non-compute shaders and that, in theory, developers will eventually be able to use to dictate custom NGG fast path configurations on a per-game basis.
>>
>>62182680
Heh the RAID 5 option is really the only thing that save Intel from total embarrassment. Although the fuckage that they require their own slow NVMe drive when there is much faster competition, that's crazy crap.

Dude try more. And fucking drop this Intel = jews meme, it's probably the single most dumb crap /g/ does. also makes one ashamed of being a fan of AMD for past 15 years NONSTOP (and I mean, nonstop, yes, including bulldy)

Motherboards only have <=7 PCI slots and <=3 M.2 ports. Realistically, nobody is going over 4 or 5.

But seriously... Who uses hardware RAID anymore?

I can fit 4X NVMe in a single 16x slot, which is already 8 in jusy the first 2 PCIe slots.
