No sound on high sierra. What do?
>>
Got a new computer and thinking of using this instead of deprecated Kawaii codec pack, got a couple questions though (didn't see them answered in the faq):
Does mpv have anything like icaros to generate thumbnails with a little mpv icon in the corner?
Can I get as good performance as mpc-hc w/ madvr?
This one's more general but mpv is said to be command-line, but it has an onscreen display and seekbar and shit (at least the compiled windows version), how is that not a GUI?
>>
>>62179978
>Does mpv have anything like icaros to generate thumbnails with a little mpv icon in the corner?
No, continue using Icaros.

>Can I get as good performance as mpc-hc w/ madvr?
Yes, out of the box and with no extra software to install. Just setup your config file.

>how is that not a GUI?
It is. The kiddos are confused by anything that doesn't look like a 20+ year old Windows media player, though.

Now on Windows.
>>
>>62179998
huh, always though icaros was tied to mpc-hc, didn't know it was a standalone thing

Another question, in the faq it seems like amd systems have lots of trouble, but most of that is in the linux specific answer. I have ryzen and amd gpu, but windows, should I encounter many issues?

How do i check if its broken? 16.04 Ubuntu, 4.10 kernel i think . All updates installed + latest mesa from PPA. I have nothing else installed.
>>
>>62180649
Also latest mpv build from mc3man PPA (dated august 12).
>>
>>62180675
Hmm, tough one. Are you using any compositor? What DE/WM? Try another distro (e.g. via livecd/liveusb) if possible. It was definitely faster than that for me when I tested it.
>>
>>62180833
Im using Kubuntu. Plasma DE and not sure what compositor, im very new to Linux. Ill try another distro with liveusb!

your mpv.conf

Weird you don't even have to install it, I still have it in my system to cover everything.

>Can I get as good performance as mpc-hc w/ madvr?
Yes
>how is that not a GUI?
No menu to set up certain things and everything done via basically text files, bat scripts to "install" it.
>should I encounter many issues?
find out for yourself

My mpv files is pretty barebones, what could I add to it to make it better?
>>
>>62182793
Well... What do you want?
>>
>>62181726
Windows supports mkv, mp4 thumbnails by default (maybe not on almost decade old versions like 7 though). Show us what happens when you throw a webm file in that folder.
>>
>>62182843
I'm not sure, just better quality if it's acheivable. It would also be nice if you guys could post your files, so I can pick what I like.
>>
>>62182965
My config won't fit into a post, the not-so obvious are labeled.

Is the new RAVU update make it works with angle now?
>>
>>62182989
>FSRCNN_24_4_4_ssim.glsl
Using these in mpv currently requires --opengl-fbo-format=rgba32f
Do you even know what you are doing?
>screenshot-template='C:\Users\anon\Pictures\Screenshots\%F (%P) %n''
~/Pictures/Screenshots/%F (%P) %n
use / not \
>>62183037
Try it for yourself, I personally never liked ANGLE always buggy, loads up really fast however.
>>
>>62183087
>Using these in mpv currently requires --opengl-fbo-format=rgba32f
FSRCNN_24_4_4_ssim.glsl is commented out for a reason,
--opengl-fbo-format=rgba32f
was meant to be commented out, I probably just removed it without thinking

That wouldn't change your location
>how dare I make a mistake in my config
The problem is you copying everything you see without reading first and than giving it to others and on top of it all you acted as if you were right.
>>
>>62183371
>That wouldn't change your location
Then what's the problem?
>The problem is you copying everything you see without reading first and than giving it to others and on top of it all you acted as if you were right.
Not true at all, while It's true I've taken examples from other configs I've checked the manual every time I've added something

Whatever you say anon
No wonder people don't like posting their configs here, I guess that's what I get for trying to help
>>
>>62180833
Just tried liveusb the latest Ubuntu and couldnt install mpv. FUCK. Not possible with PPA, not possible with software center either ("deprecated, use mpv SNAP").
>>
>>62183087
I am easily depressed and I could kill myself if it doesn't work. :(
I prefer waiting for a fully working vo_vulkan.
>>
>>62183533
Don't use ubuntu and its retarded snap package architecture!

Why doesn't video-stereo-mode work for 3D movies? I want to watch a 3D movie on a 2D screen, but any value for stereo mode still leaves me with both pictures.
