How come 17" laptops aren't in vogue anymore?
>>62178432
because there's only 3 popular form factors
phone, 14 inch, desktop
>>62178432
>anymore
They never were.
Desktop computers exist for a reason.
because ultrabooks are comfy for shitposting in bed. most purchasing decisions for a laptop come down to that believe it or not
You don't need 17" on a laptop. The high dpi displays have proven that.
My shitty thinkpad has a 14" display with 1080p resolution, just like the 17" MBP.
Productivity is the same.

ultrabooks are too small for bedposting
imo 15 inchers is where it's at
>>62178467
They were popular enough for a mainstream consumerist brand like Apple to make one.
>>62178432
More importantly, why to you give an iota of a fuck what's "in vogue"?
>>62178532
too small? an xps 13 or something comparable is the perfect size
also anecdotal but i worked at best buy during high school in the computer dept, that seriously was the consideration for most people
>do you have anything less bulky?
was all i heard all day every day. manufacturers got that message too from the looks of it
>>62178558
because they don't make 17" laptops anymore and I want one without settling for outdated housefire CPUs/GPUs.
>>62178432
Simply too big to be practically portable for most people. And shockingly, most people want their portable computer to be portable.
The real question is how they got popular in the first place.
I wish they made a 24" portable computer in a laptop clamshell form factor. But it wouldn't have a hinge. It would have a coiled video cable that linked the monitor side with the keyboard/hardware side. And a built in stand for the monitor side. Just a little fold out leg to let it stand up.

everyone who has posted in this thread so far are girls who dont have jobs
>>62178464
You mean 13inch.
>>62178580
Well there is always that razer thing, that is not outdated... As for the housefire, it is another story
>>62178580
They still make 17 inch gayming laptops.
>>62179361
You mean 12.3'
>>62178432
Too big to be portable and too small for standalone home use.
>>62178432
Because I don't want a "desktop replacement" teir laptop with no battery life and poor thermals.
Also 12.1" best size.
