Pixel. The G6 is arguably good too, if wide angle and somewhat saturated colors are your thing.

About how much is a used Oneplus X worth?
I'm thinking about switching phones, and my current OPX is in quite good condition, with some light scratches on the screen (that aren't visible when it's on) and some slight burn in where the notification bar is.
They're currently listed as $269 Canadian for new on Oneplus's website

>>

It just got updated with the iPhone 7, and I really don't see what they'd change with it at this point. Change the Lightning port into a USB Type-C port? Remove the headphone jack? Any update will just end up fucking it up. They'll probably reduce the price if anything. So if you haven't bought one yet then I advise that you should wait anon.

Currently have an S7.

I could Jump to LG G6 for $10 less a month and get a free tablet tablet out of it.

Is it a good idea, I don't really need the added power of the S835 and the G6 has better fast charging.
>>
Did Qualcomm shit the bed with QC4/4+?

None of the 835 phones are using it and are using old ass QC3.

>>62178372
I played with the J7 Pro at a Samsung store recently, looked great although that was under the bright lights of the showroom. Comparing it to my iPhone SE, the video recording sucks ass. But for taking photos it's not that bad. I think it's the best Samsung mid-ranger out at the moment. If you want any better you're going to have to go for the S7 Edge, S8 or later models.

Bezel-less phones often use a somewhat curved screen, which I find more atrocious than bezels.
>>
Newfag here. Someone in the other thread told me to use Link2SD to get new apps to install to my SD instead of internally. I'm completely lost on what to select to do this though. Is there an (up to date) guide?
>>
>>62179599

Samsung's only contribution has been the curved edgeless screen trend. LG has been doing low-bezel + power button on back, since the G2.

They've probably cross-licensed plenty of tech from each other to get to this stage.
>>
>>62179628
>often

I think only Samsung does this (blackberry had the priv but c'mon, hardly bezel-less).
>>
>>62179599
>I don't want to buy this because it looks like another phone!

All phones look like each other to any halfwit at a distance. Why is this a bother to you?

As for the UI, it really doesn't look too different from stock in terms of System UI/notification bar. Everything else can probably be fixed up via a custom launcher and probably Substratum down the line.
>>
>>62179677
The design (as in please-read-the-definition-of-design-first) its a complete rip-off, lazy asses at LG want to mislead stupid people into thinking they sell galaxies as well.
>>
>>62179511
Capacitive, so not clickable
>>
What would be the Oneplus One of 2017?
>>
>>62179717
I'll put it this way.

Samsung has been doing and improving their design since the S6 Edge.

LG lazy asses come from a fucking ass looking pair of phones that were the G5 and the v20 and they decide to steal a design.

I can't stand this, the Galaxy S5 looked awful but I fucking respect Samsung for not biting the iPhone 4s/5 look like everyone fucking else. Heck, even HTC with their amazing designs copied the iPhone 6 and used a shitty excuse.

>>
>>62179719

I get what you're trying to say, but that design is only possible due to the tech involved. If Samsung hadn't gone down LG's back power button route, the S8 wouldn't be bezelless.

And there's really only so many ways you can design a bezelless phone. It's literally just a floating rectangular screen.
>>
So I brought the Samsung Galaxy S7 32GB unlocked for £435 how did I do?
>>
>>62179599
there's only so much you can do with the rounded corners and thin bezels meme. they were developed in parallel, it wasn't a case of one copying the other.

>>
>>62177803
>non removable battery
yeah, no. Why would you pay $800 for a phone that you can't change the battery in?
>>
>>62179760
Let's be honest here, the whole redesign that the introduction of the S8 brought was nothing world changing. The Xiaomi MiMix was the first device over the year to come out with the bezeless display which gained a lot of attention (plus if we really want to be accurate here the Sharp had bezeless display phones prior to this). Samsung more than likely went this route and abandoned the old hardware keys for softkeys as a way to shake things up and bring back hype to Samsung in the form of their public image after the Note 7 fiasco happening. They wanted to introduce something that not only would be a large departure from their previous hardware but have it done so elegantly that it would wash over all previous doubt and distrust the brand had. Even I wanted to have one and I dislike Samsung's stuff typically.

As for LG, they have been something not all that attention grabbing to me. The V series always seemingly cool in concept but hard to see how it would really jump out in the real world use. I appreciate that they want to experiment with some things as experimentation in the smartphone industry has been pretty goddamn rare especially after Google abandoned the Nexus program. The V30 seems like LG had a better idea of what people want and not want this time around making it more of a powerhouse and less like a device with some niche features/gimmicks. Some tradeoffs but all around a decent device if what we know now is to be true for every device. Plus unlike Samsung this will likely be poweruser friendly in the dev communities.

Mind I am not trying to shill or suck any corporate dick here, I have done that enough in the past with Google. I am just glad there are options out there in terms of hardware. Especially since Google is doing the least in delivering that.
>>
>>62179945
According to GSMarena the 4x gets 119 hours endurance and the 7+ gets 75 hours.

Roughly half your current battery life is a safe bet considering the aggressive battery management on MIUI.
>>
LG is garbage. I have gone through three LG phones in the past eight months. I've been able to get them all replaced via Sprint's insurance garbage, but now my third LG is having hardware failure after only a few months and I need a new phone.

>LG copied the S8
The LG G6 was first officially unveiled in late February, one month before the S8. While I believe neither copied from each other, strictly speaking the G6 was the first to come out with this particular design. The S8 added the curved edges display, which for me is more than unnecessary, but the overall design is there. The V30 clearly takes the G6 design a step forward, by reducing even more the bezels, but the fundamental design is still there.

>WHY BATTERY NO REMOVE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Really? At least no headphones jack is a legitimate thing to bitch about, but spergin out about a fucking removable battery? Come the fuck on.
>>
>>62181588
Wait what no headphone jack??? wtf I hate lg now!?
>>
>>62181438
LG was my last hope. But now, even they are going for the LE EBIN WATERPROOF PHONE MEMEXDDDDDD420BLAZEITAMIRITE
and it's very disappointing. Ill have to by a few spare V20s for parts, I guess.
>>
>>62181588
Where does it say it has no headphone jack.
Bragging about 'unseen' audio features without building in a headphone part would be a rly bad joke.
>>
>>62181588
It's anti-consumer.
>>
V30 would be phone of the year if not for that Sony IMX351 sensor. That shit is made for front face cameras and LG put this ridiculous little 1/3.1" sensor on the main camera.
>>
>>62181588
>supporting the practice of letting other people replace your battery for you instead of being able to buy a new one yourself and easily replace it
>>
>>62181438
Because it's literally the ONLY thing you can complain about that phone: it's as good as a flagship can get nowadays.
>>

>>
I think this whole battery thing backlash might be driven by shills. I mean, we haven't seen a user-replaceable battery since when? Were the complaints for this issue this strong with all the other flagships? OP5, S8, Nokia 8, Essential Phone, and so on...

I'm interested in the LG V30 price to drop soon, because I want one, but hell, this is ridiculous.
>>
>>62177255
This V30 really looks good. I'll wait some time until they drop the price.
>>
Try and get chinked getting a redmi note 4 global or buy a lenovo p2?

The redmi note would run me about 150 US while the lenovo would cost me about 3 hunnid
>>
>>62181791
And yet, you have to buy specialty tools in order to do so while also voiding your warranty.
>>
>>62181893
it more likely because LG was the last major company to have removable batteries so the people who really care about that are butthurt
>>
>>62181901
What's hunnid?
>>
>>62181907
By the time you need to replace it the warranty is dead anyway.
>>
Is the V30's OLED screen using some non-RGB subpixel arrangement like Samsung's Pentile? I know the Flex 2 had diamond arrangement and I wonder if it's something similar here. People have retarded allergies for some really weird spec matters, and mine is non-RGB screens. I love the contrast of OLED, but my eyesight still picks up the eerie text smoothing and in general I prefer an RGB LCD to a non-RGB OLED, even if colors are worse.
>>
>>62181971
It has some meme tech for color accuracy so I'll assume it will be color accurate
>>
>>62181916
I can understand it, I cared about the removable battery too, but there's not much we can do about it, since every manufacturer has switched to this kind of design.

I find silly how people here sucked Samsung's dick for the Note 8 up to yesterday, although it might be just astroturfing, and now that an actually decent phone (I dislike the wide angle double camera meme, and front camera seems shit, but who cares the design is solid) comes up it's all a constant "hurrdurr it doesn't have a removable battery!"

Fuck I want the V30, but it's going to be prohibitively expensive.
>>
>>62180638
Why would manufactures make the only part of their product that degrades over time integral & non replaceable, thereby ensuring their device has a fixed lifetime despite software updates etc?

I have no idea. A mystery for the ages...

This. All batteries are removable. There are multiple videos for every phone model explaining how to do it, and the tools required can be had for under $10. It's amazing that a board dedicated to building computers with shitty counter-intuitive Linux distros proceeds to soil their panties at the thought of changing a fucking cellphone battery.
You pussies that whine about "non-removable" batteries need to go hang out at the Apple store with the other retarded normies and stay the fuck off /g/.
>>
>>62181907
If you're replacing a battery on warranty, it doesn't matter whether it's removable or not, you still go to the service center. If you're replacing after warranty ends, again, it's more trouble, but it's gonna cost you either way, and the tools are like <5$ a pack usually. The only actual worry would be trying not to damage the screen in the process.

Not saying that the lack of a removable battery is good, just saying that it's something that you can usually live with unless there are specific circumstances.
>>
>>62181971
From Android Police regarding the LG V30 OLED screen

>"Here's the thing: I'm already noticing banding patterns reminiscent of older Samsung OLED panels. They're pretty noticeable at lower brightness, especially on shades of gray. This is far from a deal-breaker - most people will simply never notice - but if you were expecting LG had upped its screen game to Samsung's level overnight, it's probably time to temper your expectations a bit."
>>
>>62181987
I hope so, but no matter how accurate are the colors, the font smoothing just can't look as smooth on a non-RGB matrix - at least, to my eyes. And it feels like using a lower-res device. But that's just me, so the subpixel arrangement is one detail that I always have to confirm.

...not that I'm gonna order it until the price drops 200$ in a few months and there are full reviews, but it's good to know in advance - might just wait for european G6 H870U if it ever happens or go for the V20
>>
>>62182055
unacceptable
>>
>>62181263
I keep thinking about this and I just don't understand how did nobody decide to do that. Two proper USB-C ports is perfect. Dongle life is annoying but livable, but charging and using something else is a must.
>>
>>62179477
A nice attempt by Foxconn, let's see whether this or Essential fares better as their potential primary brand.
>>
>>62179735
I don't think such a thing exists. But there's no need anymore, there are lots of great and cheap phones these days.
>>
>>62182029
I don't know about other people on this board but I like removable batteries not becasue I can change it when it's at the end of its life, but becasue I like to replace it when it's run out of juice when I'm at work or on the train. I don't want to have to disassemble my phone everytime I want to use another battery to use my phone when I'm out
>>
>>62182070
Good to see them trying though I guess. OLED is great when done right.
>>
>>62182142
This means your life is so chaotic and unpredictable you can't regularly find a computer or power outlet to charge your phone on a daily basis.

I have a wireless charger sitting on my desk at work, another wireless charger sitting on my desk at home, and a 3rd wireless charger on my bedside table.

No matter where I am, work or home, I just set my phone down and it charges.

If it weren't for monthly security updates on android my phone would have a several month long up time.
>>
>>62181791
Missing another point tho but instead of carrying around a power bank or a charger you can just take another charged battery with you.
>>
>>62182116
Apple is their primary brand
>>
Nexus 6P user here, can upgrade now but not sure what to go for? S8+, Note 8 or maybe wait it out? Even considering a chinkPhone. What would /spg/ do? UK, EE
>>
>>62182176
My life's not chaotic. I'm just busy. I don't find the time to charge my phone during the day and I use it quite a lot. In the past I've used power banks but that takes too much time to charge and I don't like having to carry it around while I use my phone.

As I said, removable batteries work for me and I find them useful. Don't presume that becasue other people don't share the same aspects of life that you have it makes their life "chaotic and unpredictable" It's rude.
>>
>>62182295
Well good luck with that.
With the LG V30 that makes it so NO major android manufacturer currently produces a flagship phone with a removable battery, I believe for the first time since smartphones have started coming out.

If you're an american, your protections regarding private data is far better than if you're NOT american. So assuming you're in the US, and an american citizen, there is no reason to get a chink phone unless you're poor.

The NSA/CIA can probably monitor your chink phone too, but with the chink phone you can be pretty sure that info will be shared wtih Beijing as well.

so now comes to the keyboard.
in short, i like it now but for the first two weeks it was worse than shitting glass shards.
you can assign EVERY key to do anything, like lauch chrome, call your wife's boyfriend, turn on and off bluettoth...using the keyboard for scrolling is a mixed bag because it's not supported everywhere. 7/10.

Almost no bloatware and the stuff that comes from blackberry is useful in general.
I FUCKING LOVE blackberry Hub.
The camera app is cancer. I use open camera now, so it's good.
I disabled blackberry's contacts and i'm using google's. I just wish google´s dialer was available for it.

the dtek app is good and pretty much confirms the botnet meme.
it warned me whatsapp was using the mic at 3am. pretty creepy, but it was just once.

i'll be around for another hour or so. feel free to ask stuff.

I want a sailfish OS phone that I can customize hardware wise and use clover. Thats all I need.

>thinking that LG isn't smart enough to undercut Samshit on the price
>>
>>62187300
What phone was it? Xperia X works on T-Mobile and is getting Sailfish OS
>>
Should I get a S7 edge or a OP5?
OP5 is slightly cheaper.
>>

Most mid-range Sonys have the Helio chipset which is shit for LineageOS support (look at the device list for the Sonys supported by LineageOS: all Snapdragon versions).

The LG V20 has LOS support so I am sure the V30 will get added eventually.
>>
>>62187258

Amoled.
>>
>>62180311
Really? It seems that most threads on XDA-Pajeets say that MIUI has the best battery life
>>
Am I the only person more upset that the V30 won't have an IR blaster?
>>

>It won't be obsolete for half a decade
And you're calling us ignorants? The irony is palpable.
>>
what is the CUTEST smartphone available for under $250?
>>
>>62180058
Not recognizing the heritage in design that started with all the way back with the s6.

Ok so not a shameless copy but as with the OP5 you can clearly see the influence in design.

My main problem with that I that, despite taking elements from other manufacturers they don't add anything to evolve the design.

>>62188260
Do you actually believe what you wrote?
>>
>>62188422
It's a great phone, you won't be disapointed. I still get impressed by my cousin's S6 Edge
>>
>>62188422
What are you wanting from the phone?

better OLED, 4k, msd slot, better camera, bigger battery, TouchWiz
or
near stock, 1080p, better cpu and gpu, usb-c?

I'd rather have the OP5, but you need to make your own decision.

Are you guys prepared for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 to get announced on the day the twin towers fell on September 11th, one day before Apple announces their new iphone?
>>
>>62188539
does the newer chipset really matters?
I won't game that much. The 820 is still quite powerful, right?

I'd prefer stock, but other then that and the chipset, the edge just seems better in every way. Touchwiz isn't too bad I assume.
>>
>>62188592
oh man i want the mix 2 so bad but its just expansive
>>
>>62188592

It's already announced: http://en.miui.com/thread-793652-1-1.html

i want a sharp aquos crystal but i live in europe ;_;
>>
>>62188715
Take a trip to Japan?
>>
>>62188595
820 is fine. Touchwiz is horrible, but that can be fixed with a custom ROM, although I don't know how/if the edge functionality works with other ROMs.
>>
>>62188592
The Mi Mix is a magnificent piece of technology, but the first iteration was far too fragile, and I'm sure the second one won't be much different.
>>
>>62188789
Edge is completely useless, anon wont miss it
>>
>>62188897

>>
>>62188789
I'd easily go for lineageos, but from a quick search it seems the camera quality is getting really screwed.

Do you have any idea how is the LG OS in comparison? I just noticed the G6 is the same price.
>>
>>62177657
yes, you could have gotten the previous version for cheaper. otherwise, good phone.
>>
>>62181447
>720p display

I don't care how small the screen is. 1080p should be standard. It's not so much to ask.
>>
>>62186884
This desu. V30 pricing hasn't even come out yet. I think that once you get into the high end of the spectrum, complaining about prices makes you a cheap fuck. The iPhone 8 is going to be almost $1000 anyway. If you are complaining that one high end phone is $1000 and the other one is $900 you probably are too poor to be spending that much money on phones.
>>
>>62189775
Oh, come on, we all know that pricing has nothing to do with value, and it's all just a marketing move. Look at the G6: it released a few months ago at $700 and now sits at half that. Even the S8 dropped around 25% of its initial price. MSRP is bullshit. Always.
