Used to be great but they did some big UI changes and added ton of bloatware on top of popups who are becoming more frequent.

Man they are beyond shit now. Been using Avira since 2007 and it used to be my go to snake oil AV since it gave me a lot more options than a lot of other AV. Now every fucking thing is considered a threat to them even with minimal detection settings. You could be using an old program or file for years and 1 wrong Avira update and it will considered it a threat. Its gotten to the point where even mmo's or anything mmo related are considered a threat and force quarantine the exe and to make matters worse, white listing does fucking nothing for Avira and looking at their site it seems to be a common problem. Wanna report false positives to Avira on their shitty site by uploading the file so they can inspect it? I hope your file is 50MB and under.

False positives are really bad at almost all mainstream anti malware programs,I only use them in case i drop my guard for a second or download something by miss click so it could save my ass.

False positives I can understand but with Avira, it just does not give a shit. It WILL quarantine your file reguardless of your white list and settings. The biggest problem with Avira is that it wants full control of your PC so any other protection you have(Malwarebytes, spybot, ect.) won't cut it for Avira. For things like scaning a PC you know for sure is infected with say the nonpaid version of Malwarebytes, Avria will jump right in and quarantine before Malware bytes has a chance to do anything making it even harder to remove infections from infected PC's.

Was just about to use Avira, I had AVG installed previously but all the ad-ware garbage is absurd (even for a paid user)
inb4 paying for an antivirus, I'm overly paranoid. I've scanned files from trusted sites in Virustotal, then Malware and AVG before using them but AVG is terrible with popups
Also I can't distinguish very well what's a falsepositive and an actual Trojan
Cheat Engine for example, a bunch of flags on Virustotal but nothing on Malwarebytes/AVG
Common Sense and Windows Defender won't let you know what type of potential threat a file is, and you won't look into it deeper
And granted yeah I can just use Virustotal for everything but sometimes I want security without having to check every single file (AKA thousands)
