I use an iPod Touch 2, which stopped receiving updates at iOS 4.2.1 (same as iPhone 3G). Apple still signs older firmware versions like 2.2.1, so I cab downgrade if I want.
Newer versions improve stability and add features. I would rather have a slow phone with a few apps, Safari that doesn't crash, and the copy+paste feature than a fast phone without apps that's only useful as an email client.

Pretty sure you can only downgrade if you saved your SHSH blobs while the version you want to downgrade to was current. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

>new iOS with new iPhone
>has more features because latest iPhone has the hardware to support them
>older devices get access to latest iOS but can't use some of the newer features
>older devices running bloated iOS therefore slow
Not really that hard is it?

this.
also meanwhile lagdroid gets no updates after 1 year

Apple is still signing old firmware versions for some devices. Check https://ipsw.me for iPod Touch 1, 2, and 3. Last week I installed 2.2.1 to try it out. No jailbreak/SHSH blobs/iReb/redsn0w needed.
If you have SHSH blobs, you can downgrade any time, even after Apple stops signing.

Btw I believe Apple still signs these images because iOS updates for iPod Touch weren't always free--you'd have to pay for them. Also the fact that these devices are so insecure that there's no hope to secure them with a firmware update.

We can unlock the bootloader (most models) and install third party ROM like Cyanogenmod to extend useful life of device.
>>62147057
>most
Incorrect. Most android devices today, especially the most popular ones are heavily locked down and you can't do jack shit with them. Even if you could, the entire third-party ROM scene is sketchy as all hell, with support being dropped very frequently for devices and a lot of the time you are simply betting on the developers good faith in not backdooring their ROM. Cyanogenmod has been discontinued too.

don't forget that even then only the popular models get some third part rom support if any at all. vast majority of all other android phones are left in the dirt once manufacturer abandons them

You fail at basic logic, conspiretard.
There are many reasons this could be happening. Only one of them is planned obsolescence. Others are jealousy, new software that utilize the new hardware, realization that it may be time to by the new gadget, and many many more.

Actually... I take that back. I looked into the data a bit more and it truly is quite strange. "iphone slow" is the only "___ slow" that has so district peaks correlated with release dates.
