TehC has actually gotten a lot better. I don't think anyone is claiming it's great, and its content is lacking quite a bit, but in the hypothetical where PTP dies, what do you think would happen? Everyone will rush to get into TehC and suddenly lots of shit will get uploaded. Even if someone creates a direct replacement to PTP then TehC would still improve as a result of PTP dying.

OK, you tell me what happens in the event PTP dies and TehC is the only pure movie tracker in existence. What happens exactly from the second that PTP goes down.

Probably the same thing that happened to Waffles. Movie trackers will hydra, someone will make something better than TehC and then we will go back to forgetting that it exists.

Making a bonus points system will just make people concentrate on seeding the most profitable torrents, and probably hurt overall retention.

Correct quote. If you die on an easy tracker like APL or RED where you literally can scour any web blog for 2017 autosnatch uploads, any doujin forum, any bandcamp page and so forth and still don't survive - then you shouldn't be on any private tracker to begin with.

If the announce channel doesn't allow freeleech it won't download, so it's foolproof.

If that's AnimeBytes, I'm pretty sure they don't include freeleech in the announce, so you'll need to set it up to just grab 1080p stuff. Also bear in mind on the trackers that do announce freeleech, if it's a percentage based freeleech, the percentage needs to be set, while the freeleech dropdown should be blanked out, not yes/no. That eluded me for a while until I figured it out.

Honestly though, I wouldn't. It'll just make your stats look like shit. Sitewide freeleech comes up like once a month-ish, just wait for that and bookmark the stuff you want for now. Seed it, you'll make enough buffer off that and the yen you'll collect. It's pretty trivial to get at least 2k yen a day, which 10 GB+ upload a week.

Autodl-irssi has matched about 3 torrents so far in freeleech

>Sitewide freeleech comes up like once a month-ish
Then I probably shouldn't be trying to build up buffer now then
Only other reason i'd probably try is to get PU but even then that doesn't look very easy (10+ uploads)

>if it's a percentage based freeleech, the percentage needs to be set
In these trackers, is the percentage the same sitewide, or is it announced with the torrent?

I just wish the upload hit wasn't so severe. I wouldn't care if it was just effecting my seeding, but it effects how long it takes me to download the files to my primary PC at home.

Guess i'll do some research on cheap dedicated boxes maybe. Even if it's dedicated 500mbps or something it'd be better than this.

My home connection is 1gbps, so having my VPS upload speed be my bottleneck is just frustrating.
>>
>>62147560
You've got such a stupidly fast connection you'll have a hard time finding something cheap

Yeah just looking around for a few minutes and it's looking like most offerings are in europe, and i doubt i'd manage 500mbps+ with trans-Atlantic traffic.

Maybe I just need to set up a dedicated seedbox at home since i've got the speed and no data cap.

Seedhost isn't good enough
Whenever someone asks about autosnatching on GGn I always tell them to baby the server and make sure it's actually working for them

>>
>>62150724
>when torrents from 1-2 hours ago already have 20-30 seeders
You actually made me check I'll give you that
What I actually found was scene torrents from 4 hours ago with 15 seeds and 10 snatches
And then XCOM which is the most popular torrent from the past 12 hours with 57 seeds and only 37 snatches.
If you didn't notice yet most of the people on GGn cross seed scene that they grab from elsewhere, half of those snatches weren't even proper snatches either just grabbing the nfo or sfv file again since that usually errors when rechecking.

A good LeaseWeb server should outperform shared 10/20gbps servers
I rented out a USB and Seedhost server last month and grabbed MOTW on Teh on all my servers - the Dedi was constantly getting almost twice the upload even though it's 'only' 1gbps
Seedhost had an interesting issue where it wouldn't start uploading until the torrent was finished too

They just will not. Teh would get a decent boost but that's it. You have to remember that epeen counts for a lot among staff and torrent masters, and those are the very users that would certainly rather create and stock a new PTP than give up and use a comparatively shitty tracker like Teh.

Love or hate them, you only need a few 312c and RedDunces characters to create a tracker that eclipses TehC's library in a matter of weeks.
If Teh had even half of the library that PTP has, I'd possibly be inclined to agree with you. But it's the same age as PTP with like one-sixth of the torrents.

Oh that's dumb, but it does show HnRs, so can't you just download them and seed the 96 hours if you accidentally get some?
>>
>>62152601
But this hasn't completely happened that way with WCD. First of all, there had to be a replacement to WCD because Waffles was clearly fucked and there was nothing else. Secondly, let's not start any APL v RED shit right now, but if we're being honest then both of them are light years away from WCD at its peak despite the fact that many have invested lots of time and effort. Whatever you may think about TehC, it's a lot closer to PTP than any music trackers were to WCD.

People will look at it differently if it were to happen to PTP, sure you might get a few autists putting a lot of effort into a PTP replacement, but people won't see that if PTP dies, they'll see that TehC will be, at least for a certain amount of time, the best movie tracker, and they will put some work into improving it.
>>
>>62152791
if ptp gets shut down what will happen is all the seedbox hoarders with 100tb upload jerk each other off in an irc channel and decide to make their own site, spend the next month or two creating it and uploading everything they have, and then start inviting people and ratio fuck them like jews
>>
>>62152788
I guess if they are lenient about it (no warning, no account deletion for a lot of HnR as long as you get rid of them quickly, etc) then it's only annoying (you get your DL privileges for anything besides your HnRs revoked, right?) not crushing.
Still pretty curry. What if you want to DL something when you are dealing with that shit?
>>
>>62152865
And then you have a repeat of this situation we have now with RED and APL because most users can't download on RED so they use APL. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the situation, I am doing fine on all the trackers I'm on and don't need any pity, I'm merely talking about hypotheticals. People will put work into TehC because it won't be viable to do so for many people on a PTP replacement. PTP dying would actually be a good thing for the many people who are fairly new to trackers and can't get in. It's good for shake ups to occur now and then, I'm happy WCD died when it did too. People have learnt lessons from it and things will get better in the long-term as a result of it.

wew lad. people who contribute nothing may struggle on red. this is a good thing, and a large part of why red will succeed at becoming the next what.cd.

apollo is more or less demonoid 2.0 at this point. one step shy of the pirate bay in terms of (lack of) quality.

>a few autists
HDB has A LOT of members who are also on PTP. I'd guess that 10k of HDB's nearly 18k user base is on PTP. It's also safe to assume that 90% or more of PTP's major uploaders and encoders are on HDB. These people (the core of PTP) are not going to be using Teh. They're gonna be waiting for and building the new PTP.

The casual users may go over to PTP and add peers, but most of them aren't gonna be uploading en masse. So like I said, teh would benefit but to say only "a few autists" would be interested in a ptp replacement is a tad naive, if not disingenuous. Indeed, with so many people itching to get into PTP now (even though teh has open signups frequently) I think many outsiders would be keen to join the second coming of tracker that was previously closed off for a long time.

PTP closing would be a completely different ball game to wcd, primarily because Spotify Tidal and others let you stream from anywhere, and are more convenient than downloading shit from red or apollo, hence why few people have bothered joining from the pool of 150,000 whatters. You can't download remuxes or high quality encodes from Netflix, and the selection is poor.

> Probably the same thing that happened to Waffles.
Yeah, not a fair comparison since Waffles was DOWN when WCD died, and remained down for like six months after that. People were pushed to create a replacement out of necessity, and might not have been as tenacious otherwise. Granted, a competitor would have arisen just because people love Gazelle, but Waffles would have benefited tremendously. If it were running Gazelle (like TehC does) Waffles would have become the next WCD overnight — assuming the admins actually desired that (they don't seem to).

>>62142076
> Even if Teh becomes absolutely great, 312c et al will inevitably make something of their own because Teh is not run by them.
It wouldn't matter by then. TehC would be the new PTP and ex-PTP stuff (might) come up with something comparable to HDBits or NWCD that only collectors give a shit about joining. They'd be perfectly happy with that and don't need or want the stress of dealing with niggers.

>And then you have a repeat of this situation we have now with RED and APL because most users can't download on RED so they use APL.
Hundreds of freeleech tokens on RED. You can download.

The problem is that Apollo started off catering to the people who wanted in an "easy" tracker to get in on, with open signups. The staff also had opsec issues. These two issues turned off a core group of the biggest physical media collectors, hardcore uploaders, and the like. A lot of those open signups on Apollo created tens of thousands of users who were waiting for someone else to do all the work of uploading. Making the site freeleech for months as an experiment didn't help, because that group is still waiting for someone else to do all the work. Those people were doing all the work on Redacted, which had an uploads per user statistic 4x of what Apollo had before Apollo started losing users and before they turned off the inactivity script.

If you can't download with as many tokens as you've had on RED, you're simply out of stuff you want to download, or you're a much larger than average downloader, and neither of those indicates a problem.

>NWCD is better than RED in every way except content.
So, the thing that matters most?

Also, making things trumpable for no good reason even more often than Red and Apollo did in their early months is hardly a good thing. NWCD users are limited to those who are willing to live with the fact that every version of XLD or EAC may be one which the staff decides makes every version prior to it trumpable. It's a recipe to ensure that the site remains a fourth-tier tracker behind RED, APL and Waffles, and then the specialty genre trackers.
>>
>>62154838
Hear, hear!
Red is fine. The problem is that on WCD, people could wait for sitewide FL events and snatch hundreds / thousands of bookmarked torrents in one fell swoop, and or make a shit ton of buffer.

Like you say, APL is a mix of people who have lots of buffer, and are mostly waiting for shit to just appear, which as the numbers attest, isn't happening.

>find someone complaining about bonus points and you will also find someone who is just a seedbox whore
