Why do you overclock?
>shortens lifespan
>more power usage
>have to buy better cooling equipment
I understand using the power that's there but I really don't see the point when all you get is maybe 5% extra on average

my framerate on Zelda Breath of The Wild went up by 4 FPS. thats a lot in emulator terms, trust me.
>>62129793
Does BotW have stable framerate in Cemu? It's inconsistent as fuck on the switch
>>62129690
Does overclocking shorten the lifespan of a cpu by that much?
>>62129810
yes if you have an i7 CPU and 16GB of Ram
I have an x58 mobo, why would I buy something new when I can drop in a used server chip and overclock it to fuck and keep using it.
>>62129690
Because a 12% increase in clock on 4c/8t makes a noticable improvement in some image stacking programs and other things I use. If I'm stacking several thousand 4k frames it takes a while and cutting that time is very nice.
>>62129818
Depends how you do it but generally yes it does
increasing voltage kills parts
a lot of the auto OC on motherboards use crazy voltages
>>62129881
>auto OC
Found the problem
>>62130022
but without increasing voltage you arent going to get much of an oc
>shortens lifespan
You usually replace the components long before they die from age so might as well get the most performance out of it
>more power usage
Not by much it's only really when your components are at high workload
>have to buy better cooling equipment
Only if you're going to the extreme otherwise stock fans and cleaning the heat sinks and fans once in a while will do
