AMD glued together multiple cores into one single CPU so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to glue together several RAM modules into one single RAM disk
>>
yes, with RAM drives

There used to be PCI-E ramdisks so you could try hunting one of them but those are quite uncommon. A more realistic approach would be to buy an old server woth lots of DIMM slots, shove everything in it and access the ramdisk over network.

How much power would something like that use?

I assume it needs to always be powered on

An old dual socket server would probably consume around 400-600 watts but PCI-E ramdisk cards are both rare and I doubt you would be able to find one that has enough slots. Another thing is unless you have 10 gigabit ethernet, you'll be bottlenecked by your NIC and you might as well buy a fast SSD and stick it in a NAS. It would still saturate a gigabit connection and it wouldn't be volatile.

How many sticks do you have?

You're the only one talking about using it as server storage. RAM disks are for large file operations like sorting or compressing large amounts of data without the r/w bottleneck.

you can sell them on ebay people is buying them to upgrade 775 builds to 8gb. like $20 per stick is the average price
