Any cheap AMOLED chink phone?

Looking for a new phone. Max price 200 euro/dollar. Redmi note 4 is awesome but I'm searching for an AMOLED screen.
>>
Had my Nexus 5X for a year.

>Phone was sold at a good price, but between needing to replace the stock charger because of the cable not being compliant and needing to buy USB-C cables it was less of a bargain than I thought
>Heats up randomly for no reason
>Kick ass camera, too bad I rarely take pictures
>Stock android has good performance and okay battery life, but I missed the convenient features that a custom ROM provides
>Recently rooted, installed a custom ROM and kernel. Not fully satisfied with the ROM but liked it better than stock. Custom kernel with a custom profile helped the battery life by 33% and keeps the phone cool unless it's playing videos/gaming
>2GB was meh, but I am not a heavy multitasker and I don't use splitscreen

I am constantly afraid of the phone bootlooping out of nowhere. If not for that it would be an excellent phone. Last time I am buying anything from Google since it seems like they are not going back to midrange phones.

I didn't read anything about phones for a few years. I got a moto G from... 2014 maybe ? I think it's time to have something new.

is there a phone <300€ with a screen <5" and with some decent spec ? If not I can still get a 5" but I would prefer a smaller one.

You could get a se for that much of <5 is necessary, or get a g5+ or honor 8/9

Reposting from last thread.

Ausfag here, want to buy a phone with a budget of $500 AUD.
Gonna be using it for web browsing, music and some gaming (maybe set the bar at being able to run Fate/Grand Order but I can live without it).
A decent camera would be nice but it's not important.
Storage space is useful but can be sacrificed for performance, SD slot would be nice. Would prefer it run android 7.

A friend recommended the Moto G5 Plus.
I was gonna use Aldi as the carrier since they're cheap as fuck.
>>
>>62128482
Op3t, for what I can see it's 70$ more than your budget, but you could get the g5+ if that suits your needs too, it has decent performance and a decent camera

Sure but if you're asking for wireless charging and dual sim capabilities, you should already know the majority of cheap phones aren't going to have the features you're asking for.

All that really leaves are the S series and the Notes.

LG G5 or V20. That's pretty much it. Moto G5 has a removable battery too but that can't really be considered an upgrade from the G3.

Xperia xz premium or Samsung Galaxy S8?
>>
>>62131480
The s8 has a great screen and Samsung cameras have been very good all the way back to the note 3.

As far as battery life both the Xperia and Samsung will be seeing average. The only phones these days with insane battery life are old ones with sub 1080p screens and old chipsets.

>>
>>62131540
The Samsung seems like the better choice for me. But fuck that bloatwear and I'm paranoid they'll release updates slowing it down when their new flagship gets released
>>
>>62131589
I have a Note5, it's 2 years old as of a week ago and it's still pretty damn smooth, the only thing that really bogs it down is opening 4 or 5 apps at once and switching back and forth between them often. Sometimes an app will need to reload, or it'll stutter for a second or two when switching.

But outside minor stuff like that it's still fast as hell 2 years down the line

>>
>>62131589
>>62131617

>>
>>62131589
Samsung has drastically cut down on the overall bloat that their phones had/have. Most of the complaints weren't so much the pre-installed apps as it was how slow TouchWiz is. Samsung stepped up their game and made TouchWiz a bit lighter. So lag and such should be non-existent

As for updates slowing down the phone, no. When I had my note 3, it ran like a top all the way up until they stopped supporting it at 4.4.2. To this day, the phone still works flawlessly.
>>
>>62131589
>>62131480
S8 is better out of the two but if you want something less bloated might be worth it to wait for Pixel 2 or LG V30. Considered HTC U11?

https://www.sammobile.com/2017/06/27/samsung-ui-fluidity-problem-needs-fixing

>Of all the current generation high-end phones that I have used (and I’ve used most of them), the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have the worst performance when it comes to scrolling and smoothness of UI. Even though the LG G6 and the Google Pixel have the previous-generation Snapdragon 821 processor, they fare better in this regard. Much cheaper phones from Xiaomi have a smoother UI as well.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/04/samsung-galaxy-s8-review-shiny-new-hardware-meets-old-software-habits/5/#h2

>Actual in-app performance on the Galaxy S8 is not great. The Google Pixel raised the bar for what smooth Android performance looks like, and the Galaxy S8 just can't keep up. In the above picture you see Android's built-in GPU profiler mode. Each vertical line is the time it takes to draw a single frame, with the horizontal green bar representing 60FPS. Bars under the green line rendered in time, resulting in smooth 60FPS scrolling. Bars that overshoot the line took too long to render, resulting in a stutter in the UI animation.

>Even in the lowest resolution possible—1480×720—the Galaxy S8 still drops a ton of frames when scrolling complicated apps like the Play Store. The highly optimized Google Pixel—at its full 2560×1440 resolution—is easily getting frames in on time. And even if things do slow down, there's a sizable amount of render time still.

>No matter what resolution you pick on the Galaxy S8, scrolling (especially scrolling slowly) has this weird stutter to it and a slight ghosting effect. Not everyone is sensitive to small performance issue like this, but if you are, you'll find the S8 a little unpleasant to use. I wish Samsung focused more on optimizing the whole display and GPU stack to hit 60FPS and run more smoothly, rather than adopting the raw benchmark focus the company seems to have now.
>>

>>
>>62132073
>or use a converter cable that lowers the sound quality?
To be fair, there is no reason this has to be the case, USB type-C supports analog signal passthrough in the specification, all the manufacturer would have to do is keep the headphone amp and DAC and allow the passthrough.

Then you just get a passive adapter cable. No sound quality loss whatsoever.

I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active
32GB ain't enough, so what's the best phone that would
1) Upgrade my storage (64GB is probably fine, though more or SD card option is better)
2) Have equal or better battery life
3) Cost <= $500 (preferably, though I could be sold on more expensive)

I'm in the U.S. and on AT&T.

Meizu Pro 6 plus / 6s, honor 8, Axon 7, 1+5, LeEco Le s3/ max 2, vernee Apollo lite, elephone p8 mini, Xiaomi Redmi note 4, Mi Max 2, Mi 5s.

Just check out reviews to see which one appeals to your needs more but there's plenty of nice options out there.

Which kind of build materials (plastic, glass, metal, etc) are the most reliable on heat dissipation?

Thing is, I live in a city where 90°F are the norm during the majority of the day, and the phones I've had (Zuk Z2 Pro, Moto Z Play, both made of Glass and Metal) make my hands burn within the touch, the Zuk was the hottest at the back, next to the camera and the Z Play across the metal frame.

So, I just want a phone that I can use without a case and won't burn my hand. I've ready several opinions on the matter and some people said full metal phones are the coolest, while glass phones are the hottest. But there are people that said exactly that but viceversa, and I don't know what to believe
>>
>>62144471
Metal, obviously.

Also that's strange, my Zuk Z2 Pro gets hottest around the metal frame while the glass back stays relatively cool.

Check out the Nokia 8 though, iirc they put a copper heat pipe in it to prevent it from getting hot.

I'll gladly buy a Nokia 8, it looks fucking amazing, it's basically a OnePlus 5 without the memes (jelly screen, 6Gb of RAM, being fuckhuge at 5.5in)

but I'm just a poor student struggling to get good scores on calculus, I can only afford something between 200~300USD

So it seems that despite the fact that they're using Mediatek processors, Oukitel has managed to provide updates to the k6000 Pro for at least 1 year since it came out, including a Nougat update, and has received several ROMs as well.

I thought /g/ said Mediatek was bad and wouldn't get any updates or ROMs?

How come Oukitel can do it if other manufacturers can't?

My lg g4 just went into bootloop after having it for 2 years and 1 month, 1 month after warranty (top kek).

I want to get a phone that has really good audio. I don't care much about any other features. All I use my phone for is texting, snapchat and music

Is the Moto G5 Plus an upgrade from an LG G4?
>>
>>62145767
get an Sony Xperia X
>>
K boys I have a serious problem. I've had my OnePlus One for about 3.5 years and I'm about ready to upgrade. I want a G6, but here in Canada, the h873 isn't rootable. So my next bet would be a Huawei P10, but there are zero custom roms for this. I don't have the money to buy a Xiaomi or a OnePlus 5 or anything at full cost. Super lost, all I want is Lineage or something comparable.

Is Samsung never going to have a home button and/or capacitive buttons again? I honestly do NOT like the on screen buttons that most androids have. What are my options going forward if I want a new phone with a home button and capacitive back/recent app buttons?

I thought that as well anon. you get used to it. Its no different than capacitive buttons really.

I did check Xperia XA1 yesterday and if you can live with 720p resolution (wich imo is a great 720 panel) you should get it as it has top notch camera and performance for the price

I've never been a fan of touchwiz and with the added bixby button is offputting.
I am not aware if anyone has made a way to remap it to another action yet, if that is an option than I probably will
>>
Has there been any news on the G6/V20 bootlooping as usual LG flagships go? I'm thinking of upgrading to the G6 in December if there's no worthwhile competition
>>
>>62147762
You can remap, but only soft remapping. Basically you install and app that detects whenever the bixby app is opened and force closes it and opens another app (of your choosing) instead. So bixby will pop open for a brief moment before being shutdown and your app of choice opens instead.

A bit of a wonky work around, but it does work.

>>62147795
Its better than nothing, but I'm still trying to find a phone with hand feel as nice as my G4, I'm so use to the back buttons that when I try to use my boyfriends phone I'm just not use to a standard layout anymore. But I have big faggy man hands so I can probably not each the same complaint other people have about the fingerprint scanner on the s8.
>>
>>62145638
Its gonna be slow, it will work but I personally wouldn't use it for the long run
>>
>>62147830
I got a iPhone 5 and it still works okay as a phone, for basic web browsing, and the battery lasts about 2-3 days of light-medium use. But it's clearly outdated as it can't play webms natively, the phone lags with Chrome browser, and it doesn't have the latest version of iOS. If you're a poweruser then it will feel like a big downgrade.
>>
>>62145002
Custom ROMs are easy for Mediatek, it's the official updates that's the problem

Then you have a hardware button on your phone that does literally nothing.

I'd rather have a button that is remapped to something else than a button that literally just does nothing at all.
