Interestingly enough people constantly report issues with Windows, of which I'm seeing very few to none. Bluescreens are extremely rare to me. I guess it's a usage thing, some people suck at using Windows, others suck at using Linux.

Depends on what you want to do with it. Music production with large Kontakt sample libraries? 16 GB is usually enough there but you might want to crank it up to 24 or something.

Other than that, I don't think you need more than 16 gigs. It's always better to have more and unless you fall for the memory frequency meme, they're not expensive, either.

the only time i've hit a wall with 8GB is trying to get smaller archives with 7zip. once you go past
512mb dictionary size, shit hits the fan
