Writing specialized software might make Mac OS a better candidate because the users are (stereotypically) willing to pay more.

Windows users don't pay for software. They don't mind it not being free as in freedom but they expect all software to be free as in free beer and if it isn't they'll just pirate it.

If you're writing a web service you can run it on whatever you want
