Let's break down the problem. Youtube's primarily a video server, with some weak social bullshit and also user tracking built in. The carrot is the monetization.

Serving the video is no problem, you can use something like Popcorn Time today to get something like Youtube going, where as more people watch a video they serve it too, so that takes care of the bandwidth. Persistence is more of an issue, but I can see some day a business which operates a server just to serve torrents of video files for a nominal fee from the video creator. Doesn't have to be Bittorrent but it seems mostly done already, that's why I mention it.

Why don't people put up their videos on bittorrent now? ped die pie could make a fortune if he shilled one or two things in each of his videos, without Youtube even being involved, and his audience would follow him to any platform. He's bigger than The Beatles.

Youtube only needs to keep fucking their own content creators in the ass.
