Due to all the issues with major tech companies silencing free speech, I thought it would be a cool side-project to create a mobile platform for open, uncensored communication.
This brings a few issues though (and if anyone has an answer that would be great).
1. What is the current climate of free-speech applications for iOS/Android? (I've read several apps being taken down from Google Play/App Store, should my product be distributed just the APK off the net?)
2.Due to easy integration, my choice was using Firebase. But what polices does Firebase have for storing/sending communications? (I have a business account with Google and I'm talking to them now about this.)
3. If Firebase isn't worthwhile, how hard is it to find a dedi server provider that will allow free speech?
4. How liable am I to ensure no law-breaking content is posted? How liable am I if that occurs and isn't taken down immediately?

That's iOS anyways, google you're more likely to be fine
>3. If Firebase isn't worthwhile, how hard is it to find a dedi server provider that will allow free speech?
Make it a P2P application instead
>4. How liable am I to ensure no law-breaking content is posted? How liable am I if that occurs and isn't taken down immediately?
This is entirely based on where you live. Assuming US, you'll probably be fine as long as you take it down within a reasonable time.
>>62116339
How would P2P work in this scenario? An omegle/chatroulette ripoff would work, but how about something more thread/post based?
I'm based in Canada but typically use U.S. servers
>>62116431
you'd need a distributed ledger.
I'm willing to help as long as it isn't alt-right focused. I'm left libertarian free speech.
May be blockchain tech? Coins for post/send msg etc.
>>62117707
Yes, this. Utilizing blockchain technology and distributed p2p makes it a win
>>62117707
>>62117734
if you use a blockchain you will not be able to delete unwanted messages. all messages are stored forever and the database will quickly become too large.
why not just do what IRC does???
>>62117765
this.
you only need a blockchain if you have to prevent forking or modifying the history of the database. this is way overkill for a p2p messaging app.
IRC already does this so /thread
>>62117124
If you really care about free speech you'll help even if it is alt-right focused.
>>62118419
why? I simply don't want my name associated with alt-right-branded software. I can still care about free speech and limit myself based on ideology
>>62118452
Associating with more than one political group will make you look better imo
>>62116238
>major tech companies silencing free speech
that's a good thing
right wingers deserve to be censored
>>62118572
it will made me look like I'm not serious about my political views
>>62116238
Only the government has the power to silence free speech. Have you ever even read the constitution and bill of rights? You have a vast misunderstanding about how free speech works or why we have it. Free speech doesn't mean you can speak without consequences. They teach this to you in elementary school.
>>62116238
What is IRC?
>But that's too old!
But it aint broke and it fucking works at the same time.

WHITE PROGRAMMERS ETERNALLY BTFO BY GOOGLE
"The Outreachy Summer 2017 program is wrapping up on 30 August with running a similar length to Google Summer of Code. The Outreachy May - August 2017 internship program offers stipends of $5500 USD and for this session was available to "(i) you are a resident or national of any country or region other than Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or Sudan and identify as a woman (cis or trans), trans man, or genderqueer person (including genderfluid or genderfree) or (ii) you are a resident or national of the United States of any gender who is Black/African American, Hispanic/Latin@, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander.""

I think free communication should be based on pure truth. The word is not a sparrow. If it does not seem difficult for it at all it is not necessary to do it
Maxtrix servers with the riot client.
go make megastructures
>>62118996
I'm just thinking about the amount of space it would take up. After a month of heavy use the blockchain could be 1 terabyte. Everyone has to keep a copy on their computer, too.
>>62116431
>How would P2P work in this scenario?
like zeronet

space is cheap but it isn't THAT cheap

Yes, I understand this point. maybe there is an opportunity to change bc tech for our needs? In any case it is a topology. that is, consider bc as a starting platform. or in this way it does not make sense / not feasible?
>>62119468
After a month of heavy use blockchain delet it and start new season?
>>62119722
yes you could use the chain for consensus and abandon bitcoin's proof-of-work algorithm. you'd have to invent an alternative to proof-of-work which will secure the integrity of the network and prevent spam at the same time. I'm actually working on an alternative algorithm right now but don't plan on sharing it with this Taiwanese kite-flying board.
>>62119779
>delet it
then why are you using a blockchain in the first place? the whole point of a blockchain is to keep a continuous and unchangeable history of database transactions.
see >>62119788 for my thoughts on alternatives

In general such idea was wanted to realize a dude from russian board. release was to take place at the end of last month, but this did not happen. the whole idea was met extremely negatively because of the fact that this dude wanted to use the currency to post messages. he did it on a fork of zerocoin. accordingly, users needed, before writing something, mining its currency....

There's already 4chan. You can come here and read about many different viewpoints. What you should probably do is host alt content and link to it. You can censor as you see fit. As for my own opinion I can think of two wars that were won and part of the promise of those victories were no jim crow law and no nazis. And these cries of 'free speech' I'm hearing are coming from people who sound pretty jim crow and pretty nazi to me.
