What happened to technology being beige/gray?

it turned yellow in a few years

turns yellow over time and plastic generally looks like shit. what's wrong with glorious space-grey aluminium?

normalfags

>>62113671
It's generally considered a pretty ugly color. No idea why stuff was grey in the first place, it's not like other colors weren't available at the time either. IBM 5150 was mostly black for example, HiFi components had been black for ages already.

Perhaps the beige was just the natural color of the plastic at the time? respectively was the cheapest kind to mass produce?

if everyone buys the same beige crap for their molds, the price drops
>>
>>62113671
People are edgy and need hardware that matches their dark souls. Also black plastic is cheaper to produce, than other colours and beige plastic degrades and becomes yellow.

No it doesn't. I have 30 year old beige that looks like new, mostly keycaps.
Only bromine infused plastic does. We have ways to produce flame resistant beige nowadays that doesn't go yellow anyways.
