Turns out its an SVG file hardcoded into the dock. You'd have to dig around and remove it yourself.

At least Unity is basically sensible, if you ignore that you can't move the dock. Gnome 3 is just shitty ideas thrown together to be special and different. Who thought the fucking hot corner was a good idea?

You can move the dock to the bottom for a while now. After enabling "minimize on click" with tweak-tools and autohide, it works just as nice as the "dock" in windows.
