/g/pill me on Chromebooks.
I'm looking for a fast lightweight laptop to get work done on in school. Something that boots fast and doesn't have a ton of bloat to slow me down. Seemed like a Chromebook would be a smart choice.
I already use Google for pretty much everything, so I'm already set up with Drive and the other Google products. Is it worth it for ~$200?
I already have a desktop PC for anything a Chromebook couldn't do, so I'm not worried about being held back too much. I just want something quick and cheap to write essays on.

Sounds like you're the perfect use case for one desu senpai.
I have one (A Toshiba Chromebook 2) I got for $100 or so, but I wiped it and installed seabios and a full distro on it, and it's pretty decent for how cheap it was. I named it BotnetBook, fwiw.

Good to know. Is the default operating system worth changing then? How strictly will I be held back by what comes out of the box? Is there any sort of photoshop/necessary programs that I won't be able to use with a Chromebook? Not that I really ever need such programs, but it would be nice to know in advance
