Need purchase advice. I'm trying to replace my current G4 (it's slowly on it's way out) with something similar but better, and can't come to a decision The current two phones on my list sre the:
Lg G6, and LG V20. Not brand loyal, so I'm willing to go to the right phone from who ever. Having a hard time deciding between the above two given a $20 price difference (V20 < G6), are these a good choice regardless, or is there something else out there for my needs?

Country: America
Current Carrier: T-mobile
Budget:~$500
Size: No bigger than 6.5 inches, but would prefer something smaller than the G4.
Features wanted (ordered in priority highest to lowest): Removable battery, expandable storage, good gamera, high durability, usb c, wireless charging, waterproof and dust proof.

Have a Sony Xperia Z1 phone that stopped receiving updates because of Qualcomm fuckery and a Galaxy Tab S that gets laggy to the point of being unusable. I bought the Tab S just before the Tab S2 came out. What especially irks me is that if I had purchased an iPhone 6 and an Air 2 instead, I would still have acceptably performing devices using the most up to date, secure software available.

Currently in the market for a new phone. My priorities are regular security updates for a least three years after purchase and good performance. My budget is flexible.

Living in Canada, it seems like the only Android phones to fit that bill is the Samsung S8, Note 8 and the Pixel. Pixel is already going to be replaced in October, but I don't want to wait that long. I also hear that the S8 is experiencing the same old Samsung lagginess after a few months of use.

So /g/, should I venture into that undiscovered country and get myself an iPhone or is my Samsung prejudice unreasonable now? What would y'all get?

Depends on the model, but most Xiaomi phones get plenty of custom ROMs. But Oneplus probably has the biggest custom ROM community of any android manufacturer, their phones are pretty much the new Nexus phones in that regard.

They're ok with updates too, but for example OP2 only got updated from Lollipop to Marshmallow, and Oreo will be the last update for OP3/3T. Meanwhile Xiaomi Mi2, a phone from 2012, is getting updated to MIUI9.

The only issue I have with Xiaomi is that you have to apply to Xiaomi to unlock your phone and then download some Windows software for the unlock process.

Unlocking the bootloader, I presume, so you can install a custom ROM. I know this from the instructions you get from LineageOS' iinstructions on unlocking the device.

Go to "Apps" then on an individual app's settings go to "Storage".

Once you are in the app's "Storage" menu, you should see a "Change" button. Tap that "Change" button and select SD card from the menu.

If an app doesn't show you the "Change" button when you are in its storage menu, that means you cannot move the app to an SD card.

Does anyone here have experience with lifeproof cases?
I've got one for my S8+ recently and the screen protector seems very bad quality and feels like it is not even touching the surface of the screen.
I wonder if I could just rip it off and use a tempered glass protector instead?

My HTC 10 no longer requires a password BEFORE boot after wiping and reinstalling to upgrade from Marshmallow to Nougat. It asks after booting and getting to the lock screen, not before finishing booting. Did I fuck something up so it's not encrypted now, or did they just change how it works in 7?
