How do I get a better battery life running Linux on my ThinkPad?
I have a t440p, and when I received it with Windows installed, the power management options were vast and I could get good unplugged usage out of it.
With Linux installed (Mint), I barely get three hours. I've disabled the discrete graphics, and have TLP installed with defaults. I lower the brightness and still can't barely get 3 hours.

Also mobile cpus basically stopped trying to raise performance over battery life around the 3rd gen of the i series. I've been working with a recently reinstalled Win7 T400 and I've been having a lot of screen tearing/glitching when too much of the screen was updating but only on battery power.

I've already ruled out:
* The battery (swaped with a known good battery, didn't help)
* The GPU (because it's integrated you dip)

Where should I look next, I've already updated muh display drivers.

Not sure why newer ThinkPads are hated so much.
My T450s with its 1080p IPS display, M.2 SSD and DDR4 RAM is quite sufficient. Its two batteries last figuratively forever, too.

Just got the T440p with FHD IPS display and i7 4700mq for ~300. The only issue is that the heatsink is fucked up and it heats up quickly. I ran prime95 for 5 mins and i got 85-90 max. It gets 60C when im browsing/torrenting.
