cpus can either be flat, concave or convex and in the case of intel they're usually concave, pic related is two bastardised pics from google images but if you're curious for more information you should find plenty of articles discussing the pros or cons of using concave/convex, coincidentally lapping is a thing to try and get cpus flat and it barely shaves a few degrees off of the chip after removing some amount of material and getting a mirror polish shine exposing the copper the ihs is made of - delidding is the far superior destructive method to improve cooling performance

Why is my 1080Ti stable at one clock and voltage at 60C, but not at 85C? I'm changing the clock as the temp rises to cancel out ShitPU Boost 3.0 downclocking as it climbs in temperature, so at both temps they end up at the same clocks and volts.

I knew shit was more stable when cold, but does 25C really make that much difference?

Gate leakage increases with temperature. Higher leakage = longer charge time at the same voltage = lower stable clock @ same.

Most chips seem to have a knee temperature where everything just goes to shit and you either see a sharp decrease in clock ceiling or need way more voltage to maintain. Exactly where that is differs case by case.

Just because I've dialed in a clock and voltage I'm happy with, but I like to run my cards hot so they stay quiet. It means that I set my OC while it's at 85C or so, but then when I launch a game initially the card is at like 30C and clocks probably 39-52Mhz that it usually should. I have noticed once or twice it's crashed when cold, but I can't remember if it was at these settings.

I know the simple solution would be to just add another 0.12 of voltage, but I'd feel like Jensen would be cucking me if I did that.

Trying to boot of a DD image of BSD (pfsence) with no success.

Ok so I just started using QEMU. I'm using AQEMU as a graphical frontend and I've run into a problem. The video memory is super low, 16MB I think. XFCE lags on it in an OpenBSD VM. I'm using Fedora as the host OS. I know there's got to be some kind of config files I can edit to change the settings to bump it up to 64MB but I don't know where it is or what it's called. It can be a configuration file for the specific VM, but preferably I'd like to change it universally so that every time I make a new VM it'll default to 64MB of video memory.

TLDR I want to increase video memory on QEMU and I don't know how.

I'd say do a few little projects or exercises in the language of your choice and notepad++ and then take the time to try learning either an IDE in your language or a text editor of your choice. I'd suggest learning vim over anything else, just because you'll find vi/vim on basically anything that has a *nix. Using the modal editing feels so wonderful once you get it, too. The easiest way to get started on this is to run vimtutor on a system with vim. It'll take you to an interactive help document which will explain most of the core motions / keys for you.

In terms of IDE's, I really like anything made by JetBrains. They all have pretty robust free versions and their subscription for the real deal is incredibly reasonable per year. I use PyCharm for a lot of my personal python projects... and the professional edition makes a lot of small things much easier, like profiling.

-Convert USB into Bootable Disk by running first step of Boot Camp

My up-to-date Firefox browser has been randomly going up to 99% disk usage, slowing it down and freezing for seconds. It is very annoying. Its happening seemingly at random, not related to how much shit is on the screen or how many images are being loaded, and I can't connect it to any activity or load.
I am on Windows 10 (up to date), and I have disabled all Firefox extensions.

How do I prevent this from happening?

I tried ~10 programming languages and the ones i found interesting were C#, C++ and javascript.
Now i want to actually get good with at least 2 of those, but i have no idea where to start.
I can make programs, but without stackoverflow i'm useless.
I think i'll start with C#, since it handles cross platform decently with mono, but i just don't know how to take advantage of all the functions in the framework.

If you already know how to use the languages just build shit with lots of googling and looking at the docs of the libraries you are using. Read some blog posts by people who did similar things and steal their good ideas. You gotta build your back of tricks, I mean specialist knowledge, up.

Sure you can, just not in one search. Maybe you will first search for docs on the windows shell api, then search for an example project to get started and extend that, then google for every fucking error you run into.

Is GPU sag bad for long term?
I just got a MSI 1080ti and it had some minor sag while in the case. my turbo autism activated and I created a small GPU jack and made it level.

But I was wondering if GPU sag was even bad in the first place, like over a long period of time can the GPU just bend due to heat and die?

gets something about the location already has files in it, but nothing about overwrite.
google turns up a couple things about rsync and others about cp, but they all look so different I can't imagine something so simple being so difficult.
