The fixed battery, the iphone-aping, etc, these are all aspects of the same thing. They don't want phones to be tools, they want them to be fashion items, so that you feel the need to update to the latest look. The auto industry learned this almost a hundred years ago.

What I wonder is what happens to a phone with a fixed battery that freezes? Sometimes you can't even turn it off with the power button, the only option is removing the battery. What do you do with fixed battery phones in this situation? You wait until the battery is empty and it turns off by itself? Or take it apart and disconnect the battery?
