Is this actually effective at destroying deleted files? I have... sensitive information I need to get rid of.

Overwriting each bit a random number of times between 2 and 5 is more than enough

but do you use CCleaner? Or are there better alternatives

Top level software literally doesn't matter. If you're really worried about it burn your hard drive.

overwriting each bit with a random number or a zero is pretty hard to fuck up so I would presume that CCleaner does it correctly. it's fine as long as it let's you to do non-placebo amount of passes

we're laughing now but this is going to be the mainstream narrative in a decade

I'd rather use an open source program to get rid of sensitive information, but CCleaner is pretty good for Wangblows.
>>
Play, dumb question.

If I do a free space wipe of 1 pass every night for 7 days, does that equal one wipe of 7 passes?
>>
On an HDD you just need to write it with random bytes a couple of times, on an SSD however these tools do not necessarily work and if you have sensitive information you need to write across the entire disk or physically destroy it.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
