Anyone have any experiences with Das Keyboard? I'm planning on buying the Prime 13, and would like some input.
>>
>>62026334
I had a 4 pro, it's overpriced as hell. Build quality is pretty much average, the internals are basic costar, and there's no extra features to justify pricing that matches a lot of keyboards that give you more.
>>
>>62026334
That keyboard is waaaaaaaaay to over priced. A Ducky one is cheaper, better built, and has more features

Also, if possible, I'd really prefer the keyboard to have dedicated media keys. The K70's volume slider and media keys make it a really good choice for me, but I don't care for the looks of the board much and am concerned with quality issues.

Currently considering a Ducky Shine 6 with nature whites.

Don't worry about media keys, just worry if the keyboard is programmable or not, and then you can easily program them in.

Ducky Shine is a good choice, but most people avoid the 6 because they think it looks like trash. You'll also have to change out the keycaps; most people recommend the Ducky One with PBT keycaps instead.
>>
>>62028770
I think it looks great but you should probably invest in new caps because that chinky typeface is awful.

All the pictures I've seen of the K70, the keycaps have this awful gamer looking font. but mine arrived with a much more neutral looking font by default.

As for the build quality, I thinky that so far the build quality on mine is excellent, only had it for a month but everything seems sturdy and solid, and the aluminium has a very nice finish.
I don't use the media keys much but I do use the volume roller a lot.

I would say it's a good keyboard but not worth the pricetag of 140 bucks. Should have honestly gone with a cheaper keyboard instead, on my previous keyboard I used SharpKeys to set up Fn+F keys to act as media controls.

Razer BlackWidow 2013; im starting to get interested in programming. furthermore I'd like to switch the layout from the german one to the ansi one. Thinking that programming would be more enjoyable. Is there anything in particular that's holding you back? It could be that because you're more used to a short key travel (like on your laptop) that you're tiring out your fingers.

If you want a mech with short key travel Havit makes one using new Khail low-profile switches.

I don't really know what causes it, it feels like the keys are out of position resulting in typos. Maybe it's because of the height-difference between the first and sixth row of keys? Is there a term to describe this? While the other keyboards have all of their keys on the same level, the keys of the noppoo are arranged in some kind of curve. I'll try stuffing something under the noppoo when I come home and check if that'll make a difference

Almost all keyboards are angled upwards.
Yours (and most other mechanical keyboards too) have sculpted keys, meaning each row has a different shape. This should actually help and not bother you.

I'm not familiar with this board, but it probably has OEM profile caps.
If you want uniform keycaps, you should look at DSA caps.

>programmable or not
Those dip switches on the back I take it? Definitely something I'll need to work on learning to use.
The 6 look is growing on me the more I look at it. Like the side lighting. The top is the only part I don't like but I'd see it even less than the sides anyway. Has a PBT version with nature white MX switches like I've been thinking about.
I suppose the One is an option, too.
>>62030518
Yes, they do, and that's one of the main reasons I've been turned off from them, but that looks pretty alright.
Is SharpKeys easier to use than Autohotkey? I can use AHK but looking at SK it looks a little more straightforward and permanent, which is what I was hoping AHK would be without the extra work involved.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Also as far as switch types, is there something as light as a Cherry MX Blue but not clicky? I tried my friend's K70 with browns and I just didn't care for how mushy it felt. But I don't think I really like the click of the blues and want something linear.

SharpKeys doesn't need no be launched/on at all times to work, so you don't need to ad it to startup programs and all. I used it to hard remap keys so I could play Touhou with ESDF and Battlefield with ESDF (Battlefield is like hardcoded to set the E key yo exit/enter vehicles, which meant I couldn't play with ESDF because it'd kick me off the vehicle).
It works fine, haven't tried AHK, but I think that one is for macros as well? SharpKeys works differently.

I find this absolutely disgusting. why you might ask? well, to save 1/2" in length, you've completely lost the ability to find arrow and other keys (Ins, Del, Prscr etc) by feel. you have to look down before you can place your fingers on keys on the right side of the board. you seem to have plenty of table space is'd purely form over function.

also, those feet are non-removable? that angle is awful for RSI.

and that light is just fucking annoying and serves no functional purpose.

Yes, you can, pinout and sizes are the same across all MX switches and clones.
There is some nuances though. PCB mounted switches have 2 extra plastic legs (you'll have to cut em if you accidentally buy 5-pin instead of 3-pin), there is some differences in cutouts for LED, Kaihl have different upper shell design (not that it matters though)

you still need to pull solder out of every few times, just some fine pliers will work

I picked up a Masterkeys S PBT and want to sand all of the legends off. Does anyone know a way to do it without cloudiness?
>>
>>62048980
It uses standard sizes so any standard keyset will do
>>
>>62049119
The legends are pad printed so you can just peel them off
>>
>>62049119
>sand off
You'll fuck up the texture. Better find some chink blank PBT like EnjoyPBT (or NPKC if you want cheap chink shit)
>>
>>62049340
>The legends are pad printed
It's either laser foaming or engraving with infill, definitely not pad printing.
>>
>>62049119
Keeping going finer and finer with your sandpaper's grit until it's practically polishing rather than sanding.

Who /dual keyboard/ here?

Best decision I ever did was to get two keyboards.

Reds are amazing for gaming while they suck big time for writing more than two sentences.

Blues are the exact opposite. They suck for gaming but are amazing for writing and productivity.
>>
>>62032593
>is there something as light as a Cherry MX Blue but not clicky

Reds?
>>
If I'd swap the stem of a cherry silent black to a clear stem, would I get a silent clear?
>>
>>62049747
It would be easier to get silencing clips, but yeah it would work
>>
>>62049747
Don't listen to >>62049761 it won't do anything. The stem is where the silencing is, there's little rubber bits on the top and bottom of it. The housing is just standard Cherry.

KBP is known for mangling their Matias switches.
Alps type switches are easy to damage during assembly if you're ham fisted. The switch plates can be misaligned if the pins don't pop through the board straight and you proceed to solder without fixing them.
>>
>>62049896
Obviously only a problem on simplified switches, but since nobody makes complicated with the sandwich assembly that's all you'll see.
>>
>>62048474
I don't trust KBP to assemble a board with Matias switches properly but when they actually work it's fine.
>>
>>62049119
>me

>>62049599
>>62049304

No, they are laser engraved. That is not the PBT model. The PBT keycaps are laser engraved.

>>62049447
This guy is right.

>>62049406
I honestly wouldn't notice.

>>62049479
I did a three step of 120, 320, and my next up is 600 then 1000 and I also have 2000.

I stopped at 600 and it was still cloudy. Neither 1000 or 2000 seem to actually cut into the pbt enough to do the job. Just stays whitish.
>>
>>62050167
It is the PBT model? Can you not read English? Anyway you already started so there is no point
>>
>>62050403
Sorry, this *is* the PBT model.

I don't know why I put "not" in there.

I did the caps lock key and both of the cooler-master logoed super keys. I use these as three super keys in Linux so them looking a bit off actually looks just fine.

So, got a quick question. Does anyone, or has anyone here owned the Corsair K70 LUX RGB keyboard series?
I bought a Corsair Strafe RGB blue keyboard just a few months ago and loved it for while I had it, but quickly found an issue with one of the keys repeating more and more.
RMA'd it, finally got round to sending it and its arrived. Corsair yesterday sent me a message about it which I didn't see until today, saying that they no longer deal with the Strafe RGB but because of that, they'll give me a K70 LUX RGB with brown switches instead.

I paid £99 as an offer price on my first keyboard, normally meant to be £120. The LUX is listed at £160, so I'm imagining it'll be higher grade regardless.
Still, anyone have any advice/experience with it at all?

Thinking I'm going to miss the clicky blues in a way, but browns don't sound bad.
>>
>>62049645
Is it programmable by any chance? If not I'll get a V80, I don't feel comfortable with a 60% autism that I can't reprogram into my own brand of autism.

Also, perhaps more importantly,
>ABS
How's the quality? Are they at least thick enough? Is there a colour/printing combination I should avoid? (I was looking at side printed grey/beige)
>>
>>62049645
>>62051252
Also is there a better place for UK? I don't want to pay $40 shipping
>>
>>62051295
>UK
Just stick to corsair and razer. If you're lucky you might be able to get a Cooler Master or a Ducky keyboard there.
>>
>>62051480
It's probably better value to pay for shipping than buy Corsair or Razer.

Also chinks ship everywhere, my tada had free shipping

Ok, seriously, can anyone tell me whether the KBPv60 is programmable and what's the keycap quality like?

Because
>best switches
>options are:
>notorious for poor QC chink brand
>official board with horrible keycaps and horrible design
>meme artisan-grade kits and groupbuys, like the Atreus
>overpriced even more meme self-built

I despair
>>
>>62053625
I don't think they are programmable and your keycap options are limited to:

F62 ultra compact. The cutest, most tactile keyboard in existence (capacitive buckling springs are way better than membrane buckling spring, which are miles above anything cherry-style).

Or you can get the classic case, and have a 60% keyboard that's probably bigger than most 100%s. That could also be considered cute.

Also it's about 4 times your budget but that's a minor detail, I'm sure you'll be fine
