What is the point of community repositories such as AUR? Can't I just download the software from their respective websites?

pkgbuilds.
Packages are usually well maintained and have a much lower chance of being incompatible or broken than something straight from sjwhub
Plus it saves time not having to manually compile.

Dont have to manually create the plgbuild.
Some builds it can get complex and already having the voodoo magic done for you and jus needing to makepkg makes sense
you can use yaourt from AUR to automatically install programs from the AUR in the command line
package management with apt was so comfy when is was new to linux. now when i'm getting into tiling managers and cli apps/tools feels like pain in the ass

It is. Been using arch for about 6 months now and there's literally no reason to use it or any other distro over ubuntu.
I'll be switching back the next time I need to change hardware or whatever.

i was talking about the ubuntu (debian) package manager
i'm looking to do the opposite, i'm getting most info from archwiki anyway

archfags love to execute arbitrary code found on the internet in their machines.

Did'nt notice ricing was your primary reason for switching to arch.
Carry on then.
