I don't know, one of my eyes is now blurry.
>>
>didn't even need to trick retards on /g/ to look directly at soon
>>
>>62018680
That's just your eye muscles shifting since it's not used to starring at the sun, they do that to protect the eyes from foreign objects but too much light can cause them to shift causing blurrness. Cover your left eye and look under the sun with your right, not directly, just under for 5 seconds then do the same with your other eye and they both should readjust the msucles giving your vesion back.
>>
>>62018680
Do not stare at Sun with remaining eye.
>>
>>62018675
i don't have tv line to anything that is not my pc
i am not interested in retards cheering at the sun
which i guess is why i will die alone but meh i don't care
>>
>>62017611
Think about how your eyes work

When it's dark, the iris opens up to let more light in, so during an eclipse your eyes will be fully open whereas in normal conditions the iris would close if you looked straight at the sun. Once the moon gets out of the way of sun, you'll get a full dose of sunlight and your irises won't be closed to stop it, so you WILL get eye damage. I don't know about instantly going blind or shit like that, but it will fuck some shit up.
>>
>>62017488
Here's a /g/ and eclipse related anecdote: when we had an eclipse back in the turn of the millennium, we used floppy disks to protect our eyes while looking at the sun.

It's not like you go blind when you catch a glimpse of the sun normally. All the posts and articles about how you should "never EVER under any circumstances" look at the sun without wearing the special glasses is to prevent idiots from thinking they can stare into the sun for prolonged periods of time.
>>
The solar eclipse was like having sunglasses on without having any. That is the best way to describe it.

I noticed it got dark outside today during the day which was unusual. Not sure if it had to do w/the eclipse or what though.
>>
>>62020157
You have to be in the path of totality for it to be 100% dark, which was around clayton county.

I'm in Atlanta and it looked like was going to rain, without any clouds. thats about it
>>
>>62021678
I am in Nashville which was total eclipse but it still was not 100% dark, more like almost night time looking but not quite!
What gives?
>>
>>62021758
the sunlight is hitting areas around you (but not you) so it reflects back into space but some of it is scatters throughout atmosphere (tangentially to the surface, not straight out) too

it's the same why it's not dark when the sun goes under the horizon, it's just a red sky
>>
>>62017488
i havent seen the sun in months so i was glad to be able to leave my room and so i went outside but to my surprise it was still bright out i guess that happens when it's only a partial eclipse

i never looked at the sun i opened the door and immediately flinched and closed the door. guess i should be more informed next time, lol
>>

Its ok, most of the country could barly see much and just looked like a normal cloudy day for some. I'm more interest in how much data they collected from all the weather balloons and drones they had out there. Can't find the map but there was a shit ton of them planted around pic related.
