My hdd is showing reallocated sector warnings this evening(ST32000641AS).
Could i replace it with a ST2000DM006? Its in a raid-6
Same rpm(7200),cache(64mb),size(2tb).
The difference being the 32000 is more expensive and came out 7 years ago, while the 20000 is newer and less expensive

I'm a python idiot please help.

I'm writing a script that needs to use randint and random.sample.

If I use "from random import *", randint works but random.sample returns
>AttributeError: 'builtin_function_or_method' object has no attribute 'sample'

If I use "import random", random.sample works but randint returns
>NameError: name 'randint' is not defined

If I do
>from random import *
>import random
Both randint and random.sample work.

If I do
>import random
>from random import *
randint works but random.sample returns the same attribute error.

Can someone explain what the fuck is going on?

Can someone help me understand bitcoin mining hardware?
I know that hashes per second are an important indicator on your final BTC, I can't see anything other than the antminer S7 or S9 being worth it. It has to have at least 2 TH/s for some form of monthly passive income.

The thing is I see no indicator as to hashes per second and I dont know what to look for when hardware shopping. For example, I want to run graphic design programs on a computer but I also want to play some low end valve games, so I might just transfer over my nvidia 980 and upgrade my ram to 16gb because it has low cas latency and the channel on the new mobo is the same.

What do I fucking look for when buying hardware for miners, every website just uses buzzwords or terminology they dont even explain, nothing is properly explained and I've had to scour through multiple wiki articles to finally comprehend how the bitcoin mining process and the math behind it works.
>>
>>62009020
I didn't consider that, but I just tried it and random.sample returns
>NameError: name 'random' is not defined

randint works fine.

Going off that I just tried
>from random import randint, random, sample
randint works, random.sample returns
>AttributeError: 'builtin_function_or_method' object has no attribute 'sample'

Going back to my original post, do you have any idea why
>from random import *
>import random
would cause both to work, while
>import random
>from random import *
would cause only randint to work?

Intel Core i5 (90) Intel Core i5 3rd Gen (32) Intel Core i5 2nd Gen (16) Intel Core i3 (27) Intel Core i3 2nd Gen (1) AMD A4-Series (2) AMD A6-Series (1) AMD E2-Series (1) Intel Celeron (7) Intel Core 2 Duo (16) AMD Turion II (1) Intel Core Duo (2)

I have an old 2007 HP monitor (HP w1907) that has both VGA and DVI, when I'm using it in VGA at the native resolution, or any resolution, it is obviously more blurry than when using DVI, but when I go from the default 60hz on VGA to 75hz on VGA the image gets as clear as if it was DVI. I have a shity old laptop, a ProBook 4535s, that I'm giving to my friend whose computer died and doesn't have the money to replace it. I I replaced the battery because it had run down below its charging threshold and wasn't even recognized by the computer but it didn't help this charging issue. I'm helping someone build a computer remotely. They dont know anything about this so helping them to put everything together has been very fristrating but we've managed to get it all put together.
However, it's having issues on startup. We have an os prepared but cant get the optical drive to open despite being plugged into everything. The computer turns on, but it wont turn off when the power button is pressed down and it has to be unplugged. The specs are as below, every piece is brand new but im worried she might have damaged something on assembly.

EVGA GTX 1050
MSI 7270-A mobo

yes, just;
1. connect them together, if one is newer than ~15 years old, any cable will do (if they're both really old, a crossover cable might be needed)
2. either let them give themselves an APIPA ip address, or give them both static ip addresses
3. setup a file sharing system, be it samba, an ftp server, ssh, etc
4. transfer files

If you boot from a different drive, the data from the "desktop" of the old drive STAYS in the old drive.
You can access that data again by either mounting the old drive, then navigating to the desktop folder of the old drive, and seeing them there, or by simply booting from the old drive again.

Computers are not magic. They will not magically move things onto a new drive for you.

It can. Especially with AV software. Some delete files they aren't supposed to, keep programs from starting or even have security vulnerabilities themselves. There've been many examples for these things in the past.

Oh fuck, I misread your post. I'm pretty sure there are studies that find electric toothbrushes to be better yeah, though I think that's partly because it's just easier. You can access X properties from your i3 config using the 'set_from_resource' command. This is also handy when setting color themes for example.
The fonts for most applications will usually be configured in your GTK settings though.

>by default i3 uses its own terminal
If you're referring to 'i3-sensible-terminal', that isn't actually a terminal itself. It just tries to start a few popular terminal applications until it finds one that's installed.

I saved this snippet from ffmpeg online documentation.
(50 MB * 8192 [converts MB to kilobits]) / 600 seconds = ~683 kilobits/s total bitrate
683k - 128k (desired audio bitrate) = 555k video bitrate
*Remember to include both audio and video bitrate.
*after a bit you can make a decent guess without any math.
They recommend two pass encoding. The purpose of which for most accurate filesize control, and say there's also a slight quality improvement in the case of vp8.
I use
ffmpeg -i <infile> -c:v libvpx -quality good -cpu-used 0 -threads 3 -b:v 1200k -maxrate 1200k -bufsize 1200k -qmin 0 -qmax 63 -map 0:v:0 -pass 1 -passlogfile /tmp/ffmpegpasslog -f rawvideo -y /dev/null
as a starting point. for the second pass, just press up cursor and change pass 1 to pass 2, change rawvideo to webm, and /dev/null to outfile.webm.
Play with bitrate, then -vf scale if bitrate seems shitty low, and lower framerate can make a small difference too.

I did a factory reset but turns out I'm a retard because of Factory Reset Protection. Looks like it's OEM locked, so adb and fastboot don't work, and I can't flash a new bootloader or the factory firmware. I have no idea who originally owned the phone so obviously I can't just log in to their Google account. Nothing is accessible except the Google login, and not even the "share as" clipboard trick to open other things works anymore.

Is it basically just a useless brick at this point, or is there some other way to bypass FRP? I've heard some companies offer FRP bypass services so I figure there must be some kind of way to still get around it.

Go to https google and try searching for one of the banned keywords.
If that gets blocked, then check your https certificates.

glossy or matte screen on a laptop for school work?
>>

cheers, can you just NOT make some sites https?
>>
>>62019695
Whether or not you can use HTTPS depends on the site.
>>
>>62019720
is there a (non manual) way to check?
>>
>>62019680
More RAM is probably not necessary. More space on an SSD can be useful, but it really depends on if you need it.
I'd say it's easier to upgrade the RAM later though, instead of switching out an SSD. Still, you could just add another 256GB SSD.
You're comparing pears and apples basically.
>>62019725
yeh

Anyone know of any brand of AMD cards where mounting an aftermarket cooler doesn't void the warranty?
The way EVGA does it with nvidia cards.
>>
>>62019690

Matte probably means less glare.

yeh, but apparently glossy has richer colors. I was looking for someones input here
>>
>>62019806
It's /etc/
passwd and /etc/
hosts
>>
>>62019831
I have a matte screen, and I don't really notice the "not rich colours". I think that's way more determined by it being IPS or TN, it's probably TN. And with a laptop you're moving around constantly and not always having a good spot, not seeing that light behind you in ultra high definition is a bigger plus than "richer colours" on a tiny screen in my opinion.
Not him by the way.

>>62019838
Probably why 4chan refused to post it. :^)

Is there an alternative to SimilarImages that is not abandoned since 2013, is able to process around 500k images without crashing, and has the function to autodelete based on at least the resolution preferably also based on the filetype and filesize?
>>
>>62019725
Is there a code hotkey, like there is for spoilers (CTRL+S for spoilers)?

"4chan X code hotkey" is kinda hard to search for on google, and it can't be CTRL+C.

that's what he's saying. I remember there was a scare with a new advertiser and people couldn't post the host file directory because it was spam for some reason

is there an actual difference between 1x8 GB and 2x4 GB RAM in a laptop other than being able to upgrade?
>>
>>62019980
2x4 has the potential of being faster

2x should have dual channel, but apparently that difference is negligible.

1x8 so you can add another if you have to

Can someone explain the concept of prototyping to a retard? I see the word when learning javascript and stuff.

How does it relate to classes

in javascript, objects inherit from other objects

My computer has started beeping six times in a row. I looked up the bios beeping codes and apparently either my keyboard is fucked, or my motherboard is fucked. I'm getting no other error messages or anything apparently wrong. Anybody ever have anything like this happen to them before? My inner pessimist is telling me it's the motherboard. I haven't had a chance to test a new keyboard yet.

how the ufck is that different from classes though?

I want to get into my university's super-competitive CS program but as it stands so far I don't really see any chance so far of getting in (3.0-ish GPA, sub-3.0 in every calc class I've taken, 2.2 in Intro to CS II). What can I do starting from now in order to improve my standing? What should I pursue when it does turn out that I'm

what kind of data is stored on an ext4 journal?

No, as far as I know the journal doesn't have any entries for past actions. Only ongoing actions are relevant to consistency.

Shotcut is available for Windows. It takes some learning, however, and it doesn't have anywhere close to the features of stuff like Premiere.

Alternatively, DaVinci is also free (you have to sign up for an account on their website iirc, but you don't need to pay for the free version and it doesn't require internet access afterwards).

When my desktop computer goes into sleep mode, I can still hear fan noise from the CPU and GPU. Is this normal? I remember it used to sound like it completely shut down after a long period of inactivity. Maybe that only happens with hibernate.

Sometimes when I plug the power connector to the CPU in the LED blinks like normal but then a second later turns red again. I don't have a spare 8 pin power cable but tried 2x4 pin and did the same thing. What can I do to at least know what's fucked?

There's an open URL button I think, if it's a URL that links to a video file. If it's a stream, use streamlink.
