You can install without a key, then you have 3 days to activate. It will probably fail to activate automatically, there will be an option to activate manually. It'll display a number to call. A robot will answer and ask you how many machines you have the key installed on. Just say one, and start reading out numbers. It'll read out other numbers to you, activate and you're done.

For Windows 10 at least, windows will keep working indefinitely but will have a watermark on the bottom right of the screen.

Yeah, I know, but I didn't buy Windows 10. I got it from the free upgrade and installed it onto my curent computer which is a typical prebuilt one. In these cases the license key is stuck to the machine and can't be transferred. Go search about it, it's everywhere. Hence me asking for alternatives.

Microsoft doesn't care if you use an activator, windows defender will call it a virus, and that's it. Ive been using an activated version of windows 10 for over a year and no issues so far.
Microsoft still even lets you upgrade to windows 10 from an activated version of windows 7, they really don't care, mainly because they want everyone to be on windows 10 for data mining reasons.

no guarantee it will work for you op. but you can buy a really cheap used key from a key site (not naming any, find it yourself). For like 10 dollaroos. all you have to do is use the key and call microsoft, speak to a pajeet and claim this is a key you bought with a windows 10 disk and they will activate it on your machine.
