Yes, music contains sine waves with slow rise times. Obviously this is undesirable as it makes the music sound muddy. There are several methods to obtain cleaner transitions. The cheapest is to use zener diodes to clip the audio, this squarifies the signal somewhat but it still has some sine components in it. How much you get rid of depends on the zener voltage.

A better method is to feed your audio into a dual-input AND gate. The second input should be set to a reference voltage. Every time the signal transitions through the reference the output of the AND gate will change and will give you a very clean transition. Using high speed CMOS AND gates can drastically improve audio quality.
