consolidation of programming FAQ in a single source (dont come back at me with problems about the site/users/mods, idgaf) vs. scouring shitty phpbb forum posts for hours about something tangentially related to what you want to solve. i really don't see how you can argue it's a bad thing

No OS does because 1st edition unix was written in B and assembly.

kid, no one cares if a moderator undid your edit on a post because it wasn't thorough enough or whatever, thus preventing you from getting another badge on your profile. either list actual problems with the product or shut the fuck up.

Wow more reason to hate that garbage.

1. Answers are selected arbitrarily (if the questionnaire likes it)
2. Pointless censorship
3. The usual loop of either "RTFM" questions or "Not constructive"/"Opinion based" questions
4. Inconsistent on question quality
5. People use dodgy tricks to "up their popularity"
etc

a pretty smart man, judging by the things he's done, and how he talks. You know that he's the primary reason that Apple has the stream of components that it does, right? You realize that he's the primary reason Apple is the most expensive company in the world, right?
Also, you realize that the only reason you could post that message is because of a man who had the same sexual orientation as Cook, right?
You realize that being homosexual does not equal being gay, right?

Linux can be UNIX if you want it to be. The configuration necessary is minimal, and the patches are available.

>1. Answers are selected arbitrarily (if the questionnaire likes it)
the green checkmark? ok, so the person who asked the question may not have selected the most popular (and maybe more right) answer. i don't really see what the problem is. just scroll down the page to see the other answers.

>Pointless censorship
examples?

>3. The usual loop of either "RTFM" questions or "Not constructive"/"Opinion based" questions
i can see why people may get pissed at community pruning, but do you really want to wade through a sea of low quality "what does the plus sign do in ruby?" questions? unless you have actual examples, i don't have a problem of people cleaning up redundant questions from 12 year olds/pajeets too stupid to use search/proper english. power users are a necessary evil.

>4. Inconsistent on question quality
elaborate, don't know what this means.

>5. People use dodgy tricks to "up their popularity"
i dont really give a shit, every online community has autists that game the system. why would SO be any different? is it really a rampant problem?
>>
>>61983681
>may not have selected the most popular (and maybe more right) answer
Neither popularity nor correctness dictates what answer the questionnaire decides to mark/select.

>Just scroll down
That doesn't help either, you are left with more confusion as there can be incorrect response mixed with the answers as well.

>Pointless censorship
>examples?
See picture. And there have been many more occasions of this kind of incidences.

> but do you really want to wade through a sea of low quality "what does the plus sign do in ruby?" questions?
Stupid questions in SO have been treated just fine. Randomly or inconsistently. They allow the stupidest of the stupid questions but sometimes they go one pure autistic rage.

>elaborate, don't know what this means.
Questions that have the same level of quality are treated differently.

>People use dodgy tricks to "up their popularity"
>i dont really give a shit,
Now this is just a weak denial. SO effectively encourage dodgy practices to make a person look popular or credible, which is very harmful

> is it really a rampant problem?
Yes, stackoverflow is a very big problem
>>
>>61983681
Why does stackoverflow exist then? RTFM and Goggling will solve most, if not all of the stackoverflow questions.

What should a user ask then? Opinion based questions?

UNIX is a trademark indicating that your software conforms to SUS. Unix is an operating system developed at Bell Labs that AT&T and SCO suicided with copyright lawsuits.
It's a trivial fact that macOS is UNIX.
