I use XFCE but it's missing a shit-ton of GTK, ibus and libinput integration from not being updated in 2 years. MATE is just bad in general.

Netflix is gonna give you extremely limited options on what you can do with their content, browser or app, playing it as it is is pretty much all either can do. So - as long as they both play it at same FPS and quality the app is completely useless.

Yeah security holes, browsers are constantly under review from thousands of watchful eyes, especially the open source popular ones. Netflix app is only reviewed by Netflix and fuck knows how well that is. Besides, you're using a damn browser anyway, by using the app you're not negating any browser security issues.

tried it. wasn't impressed.
my hardware is not that old but it still felt really clunky and slow. not much different than gnome. it took a few seconds to just load the desktop. there's a noticeable delay when opening menus. there's no reason for me to use something like that when there are better alternatives.
