Any review and/or opinion for this upcoming dev board?
The ESP32 is great.
But buy a cheap module for 6$ instead of this overpriced noob shit.

What anon said. That is a little aesthetic, I grant.
it look kind of functional for 9$ though

I was going by kickstarter price of 35$,
if it ends up being 9$ than it wouldn't be bad
where is manufactured because most of the pi are made in the uk and its better

Taken from their kickstater page : "We have fully functional prototypes of the core modules and have a full-time team of Engineers working in Shenzhen, China." seem link chink shit

The thing is, you could make the exact same device with an ESP32, an LCD, buttons, all the other components + a couple of breadboards + a lot of jumpers
The problem is, the setup will not be portable. It will not be durable. You cannot put it in your bag and go away. A little pull on the wire means hours of debugging. And dont even get me started on the stray capacitance generated because of the long wires and the breadboard. The other alternative is to get a custom printed PCB and 3D print your own case for it, in case you want it to be durable.
But here's the thing, it will be a lot more expensive than 35$. Custom PCBs cost a whole fucking lot, and 3D printing, too to an extent.
If you are being offered a prebuilt device for 35$ vs making your own one, its a no brainer, unless you're a masochist, or possess outstanding technical skills

The ESP32 is a microcontroller, the pi is a computer, they aren't even comparable.

The UK manufactured PIs are crap, I prefer the chinese ones. The former have rough PCBs around the edges, often bend pins and just don't feel as good of quality as the chinese ones. Its not surprising either, the chinese have a million times more experience making boards on budget and making them well than the UK.

ESP32 dev boards with Arduino compatible pin layout already exist. You can just stack modules on it just like this one.
But instead of forcing you to use components your application likely won't need you get to choose exactly what you need from a wide range of cheap modules.
