Google will be fine no matter what anyone here does. The problem is, the average person will see absolutely no reason to give up what they are comfortable with. I've been using DuckDuckGo for about a year. For most things it works as well as Google search but sometimes I still have to turn to Bing or Google. Nice thing about DDG is that it has Bang Commands, which allow you to initiate search on other platforms from the DDG page.

Someone on /pol/ mentioned some kind of browser addon that instead of removing adsense ads, just hides them and then clicks them all. The idea being that when lots of people use it, advertisers will notice useless trash traffic and move elsewhere.

Would that actually work?...on two levels...
First of all, don't they have protections in place to discount suspicious clicking activity? Clicking them all seems pretty suspicious.

Second, even if the traffic quality deteriorates, wouldn't it simply lead to advertisers bidding less overall instead of moving away?

Just throwing this out there for discussion. Would be nice to be able to do something actually effective.

It's to prevent spam, but that's exactly what Google says. Companies can't, and should not be trusted with that kind of information. The only option is to have client-side filters to detect specific keywords/links, or not have it at all. But if you consider spam protection a necessity, it wouldn't be difficult to integrate the server's spam-detection algorithm into user apps or websites.
